Paul and Jonna

Paul was driving home as fast as he could to check his grandma. He was so focused on his way that he did not noticed his phone beeped. As soon as he gets home, he went straight to his Lola's room but she's not there. The house was too quiet as if no one is around, so he went straight to the 2nd floor where his Lola usually stays. It was too dark that he was already cursing then suddenly, 'IT'S A PRANK!!!!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY PAUL!!!'. The dark room turned into a bright, colorful and happy one, everyone is around including his Lola who is looking so good and all dressed up plus his parents from abroad were here!!! He was so shocked and did not expect this surprise for him. Yes, it's his birthday but he intended to celebrate it alone and would just buy something for dinner.

It was a fun night that he forget the reason why he needed to come home ASAP. Everyone is around; his family, his friends. He felt so loved, he never thought that his siblings would do this for him. He is not that emotional type of person but seeing and being with all these important people of his life in one occasion was such a rare moment. He never celebrated a birthday this grand. Then his father approached him, tapped his shoulder and said, 'son, I am proud of you! When can we see little paul around?😊'. Paul just smiled.

The party ended almost 3am and Paul felt exhausted but happy. He immediately fell asleep as soon as he reached his bed. The next morning, he sent a notice to his boss asking for a 3 days off. He took a leave and cellphone off for the next 3 days to extend his birthday celebration and to catch up with his family. They went to Batangas to their ancestral home. Lola was so delighted because finally after decades the whole family was complete again. Paul and his siblings enjoyed fruit picking; there were rambutan, mangoes, chico and more. The family has a lot of catching up to do and it was a leave well-spent.

Meanwhile, Jonna went home with a happy heart. She was smiling because of the silly thing she did at the cinema and at the same time felt it was a blessing in disguise. How she felt so comfortable with a stranger and it was such a great relief because she needed that good laugh after the pain that she has been carrying for days. She wanted to forget the heartbreak that only her knows, yes, only her knows. She loves, loved rather, her best friend without him knowing it. And it broke her heart when she heard the news that he already tied the knot and she was not even invited nor notified. No one knew her feelings for him except her and her friend Mhean.

Mhean was busy preparing for her wedding so she would not want to borrow a time just to be with her. So she dwell in that heart break alone. Her mother once noticed that her eyes looks swollen, have you been crying? She asked. But Jonna denied and just said she was bitten by a certain insect. But today, finally she smiled and the pain in her heart was already gone. Thanks to Paul!

Speaking of Paul, she checked her phone but received no reply. Maybe his busy checking on his Lola, she told herself. She went straight to see her mom and dad and invited them to have enjoy the food he bought for dinner. The couple looked at each other and happy with what they were seeing, finally, Jonna's smile is back! Whoever or whatever the reason is, they are happy with her.

She lie down in bed with the smile still on her face. She again texted,

Hi Paul, I hope everything is fine and that Lola is okay'.

Jonna

Three (3) days had passed and Jonna was wondering why Paul did not answer her text. She was tempted fo text her for the 3rd time but hesitated. She don't want Paul to think that she is so eager so she just waited...in vain for his reply.

Paul on the other hand woke up early that day. He opened his emails, his phone to check for updates and reports. There were a lot of emails and messages but he noticed this one particular message from an unknown sender. He opened it and it says:

Hi Paul.

Jonna

Hi Paul, I hope everything is okay and that Lola is fine.

Jonna

Oh my! He said and immediately replied,

Hi Jonna,

Sorry for the late reply. Yes, everything is fine and Lola is okay and kicking. I took a leave off from the virtual world and from the office to be with my family.
