Our Little Ate and Kuya
My daughter Yuri is the eldest among the 5 cousins, and ever since Jac, her 3rd cousin was born she immediately took responsibility of taking care of him. She would babysit, talk, teach and play with him. As if there is this Ate (older sister) instinct.
They become instant best friends. But misunderstanding is inevitable, it's normal because they are kids. They quarrel over petty things but after few seconds they will hug each other as if nothing happens. They easily forgive and forget.
Since then, whenever we go out, Ate would ask if we could bring Jac and if not can she buy something for him. As much as possible, she wants Jac to also experience what she would experience. And as soon as she arrives home, she would immediately look for him and hug him tightly as if they have not seen each other for years.
Then come 2021, another cousin arrived and her name is KC. She's so cute and Yuri and Jac adores her. They would take turns in carrying her after each morning bath, with the help of adult of course. They are both excited to play with her, watch over her in between plays. They would sing her lullabies and would interpret any word that comes out of Kc's mouth.
Since Yuri is the eldest, she is always the 1st pick whenever they need something like handing over a diaper, a feeding bottle or baby wipes. Sometimes she would abide instantly but when she's busy watching or drawing, she would complain why she was born the earliest😁. But still do so after, she just want to voice out what she is feeling.
Yuri and Jac became extra caring and protective when Kc arrived. One time, my grandma joked and told Yuri and Jac that she would bring home Kc as they no longer have a baby at home. What these two did was immediately closed the door and guard it not letting grandma to go out. It was such a sweet gesture of these two.
Having these 3 also means more pictures to take and keep. We would let them wear their best dress and have random photoshoots after their morning bath even when one of them is sleepy. It's hard to take a nice one, wherein they look straight at the camera but candid shots are always the best shots.
December 6, 2021 right after our mother's birthday, another angel was born and her name is Jam. She is Jac's little sister.
When pandemic strikes and we all went home, she had been asking if when can she have a baby brother of her own. The one that will come from mommy's womb. And me and my husband would tell her, we will just buy from the market a baby doll. She would insist that she wanted a real one. She even complained when she learned that Jac will have a baby sister. She said that she is the eldest she should be the first one to have a younger brother or sister not Jac.
When Jam arrived, Yuri realized that it's hard to have a lot of baby brothers and sisters so she decided that she no longer want to have a baby brother of her own. Jac, Kc and Jam are already enough.
It's funny and admirable how she looked things differently. Maybe in time, if God's permit she can still have her own brother or sister to look after. But for now, these 3 cousins is more than enough🙂. Her other cousin by the way is Blaire, she lives in Batangas where my brother and my sister-in-law where working. We're hoping that this year, they could come home and that these cousins will have the chance to get along and have bonding moments together.
