Yesterday late in the afternoon we were in a big supply in the markets. I am writing in the plural, because we visited several large markets, since we are "hunters" for promotions. Literally everything has become more expensive. Very frustrating. But one item in the purchase, is awful .... namely toilet paper, the price range from $ 3 cheapest, up to $ 7. We all know that it is a very consumable commodity. That is why the prices are too high. I did a little research on the history of toilet paper ha ha ....... Many significant inventions in history did not immediately find their way to fame, and among them is certainly toilet paper. The first bundles of toilet paper were introduced by American businessman Joseph Gayetty in 1957. But the product sold very poorly, so it was soon completely withdrawn with store shelves. At the time, most Americans couldn’t find the slightest reason to waste money on perfectly clean toilet paper when their bathrooms and homes were cluttered with department store catalogs, yesterday’s newspapers, and flyers that could very well serve a purpose. Two decades later and a Briton Walter Alcock came up with the idea to sell toilet paper. And while Gayetty tried his luck with the individual slips, Alcock decided to roll up the toilet paper in a roll. Although his invention was truly unique, it took Alcock a whole decade to convince strict Victorian minds of the innocence of a roll of toilet paper. On the other side of the Atlantic, in the early 1980s, public sewers were hastily introduced into cities and bathrooms and toilets were carefully arranged. Stores advertised the latest models of English toilet bowls and bathroom accessories. It was a good time for the final breakthrough of toilet paper. The Scott brothers, Philadelphia entrepreneurs, started very successful at the time selling toilet paper and introducing one important novelty - small rolls and small wrappers that were in stark contrast to Gayetty's bundles of five hundred leaflets. The paper was sold in inconspicuous brown bags without any labels or inscriptions. But soon there was competition in the toilet paper market that caused more and more boldness and more direct advertising methods. Customers no longer had to read hidden meanings and messages from advertisements, but manufacturers made it clear to them why their toilet paper was better than others. It quickly became apparent that even on toilet paper, wealth can be gained because it is one of those products that is inevitable. Well, so much about toilet paper which is expensive..ha ha ...... But I couldn’t resist, I bought myself a Kalanchoe, a flower for a better mood after a frustrating purchase. I have to laugh, because the pictures have nothing to do with each other, but related to my text, yes .... he he, it's life ..... Have a nice day..... Jučer kasno popodne smo bili u velikoj nabavci u marketima. Malo sam istražila povijest wc papira ha ha....... S druge se pak strane Atlantika početkom 80-tih godina 19. stoljeća u gradove užurbano uvodila javna kanalizacija i pomno uređivale kupaonice i zahodi. Ugodan ostatak dana.....
