As the cases of Coronavirus stays in the Philippines, citizens are having a hard time going out of their houses by the fear of having the virus transmitted to them. With this, grocery shoppings, buying tools in the mall and buying clothes have been lessened due to complications.

Unknowingly of the benefits, citizens started buying goods, especially food, locally. Instead of going to the mall, people are just going to small markets in their subdivisions or community. Building tools such as wood, gravels, tools and even furnitures have been bought from the local hardwares closest to them. And of course, the most common, clothes are being bought from local resellers. Now what doyou get from this act?

1. You're saving money

This is what we all want, right? It is pretty obvious why imported goods are more expensive than local goods. From the raw materials they bought from us, manufacturing it, and then again imported to us, taxes and expenses are piling up. Compared to local goods where the raw materials come from their very own farm or factory, manufactured and then that's it!

2. Local goods are healthier

In terms of fruits and vegetables, locals are healthier. The fresher the food, the healthier. Vegetables and fruits begin to lose their freshness within 24 hours it is picked. This could also apply to various raw meats. The lesser the transport time, the fresher the goods are.

3. The money circulates in your community

This is for the local sellers who have their raw materials just with them like the farmers and poultry businesses. The money you will use for buying the product will only move within your community as no imports are needed for the sellers to manufacture their goods. That means your community will grow economically.

4. You're helping people get jobs.

When you buy locally-made products, this becomes the source of income of many people. If you continue patronizing and supporting local sellers, more people will have jobs which leads us to the last and main reason why we should buy local goods.

5. You're putting food on someone else's plate

Buying goods locally would mean earnings for a thriving citizen. By doing so, instead of letting your money inside a multinational company owner's wallet, you're giving locals the chance to feed their family at least 3 times a day.

This is how mutually-beneficial supporting local sellers are. I hope that with this article, you are inspired to do so. Sharing your blessings don't just have something to do with giving, it also canm be done by exchanging with people in need.
