btcfork, a group in a mission to keep Bitcoin (cash) available for everyone

It's impossible to get into the Bitcoin Cash scene and not bump into, if I may say so, on the folks at @btcfork , they're practically a pillar in the Bitcoin Cash community that don't go unnoticed. There are those, for example, who until today did not knew that btcfork is a group of devs, users and supporters who decided to join forces to keep Bitcoin as peer-to-peer and accessible to everyone in the world.

Generally, we cannot see their face as they are a group of people, but they are behind the curtain doing what they do best, maintaining the infrastructure and keep Bitcoin with the real purpose in which was created, a P2P cash payment that suits people's needs also a currency that works for everyone on the planet, after all, people need a digital cash that can be used anywhere in the world and pay almost zero on fees.

But, who really is btcfork?

To better understand btcfork I advise you to see the file, but, going ahead I can say that btcfork is a group of people who always believed that Bitcoin had to scale, they have been in the crypto space much longer than Bitcoin Cash, when they heard the question 'to scale or not' they embraced the larger cause of what Bitcoin is, which comes down to staying true to their whitepaper as cash and also accessible to everyone.

I had an interesting conversation via Twitter with btcfork, who has always remained faithful to their charismatic figure, and was able to elucidate me more about them and I would like to share in this space dedicated to prominent figures in the Bitcoin community, how the chat was. Attention, that everything you will have the pleasure of reading is in fact a coherent answer to the question I asked btcfork, asking who is btcfork after all:

btcfork is less about any individual than it is about a mission to scale Bitcoin as p2p cash and keep it available for everyone in the world to use.

Indeed we played a role in the early days that gave rise eventually to the hard fork that was Bitcoin Cash.

We also realized then that it was not simply about technical issues, but political.

1. To keep Blockstream and Bitcoin Core in control, they followed a policy of only soft forks.

1. The refusal to upgrade even through their own client, to something small like 2MB, was clearly not based in technical considerations.

It became clear that it was about something else. A different philosophy or goal for Bitcoin. They wanted high fees, they announced SegWit and the Lightning Network as scaling solutions. Both were quickly found to be lacking as good solutions, and we saw that they were turning the relatively simple design of Bitcoin upside down, and introducing an untested solution which changed also the economic properties and incentives. This made us greatly concerned.

SegWit, which they framed as a requirement for their Lightning Network payment layer, did not have much support initially. The network voting did not look promising. It failed to activate for a long time, eventually they got frustrated and wanted to push it through with the so-called "UASF", i.e. without miner support. The activation of SegWit would come with consequences on the Bitcoin blockchain that we did not want to tolerate, so the big blocker community decided to finally split off, and Bitcoin Cash was formed shortly before SegWit activated on BTC.

Since then, those who formed and supported the btcfork movement, still support Bitcoin Cash in various ways, in the spirit of scaling Bitcoin (Cash) and promoting its adoption throughout the world.

As you can see, in a great little 'big' summary, they are a legend as a movement for Bitcoin Cash who work hard to keep Bitcoin Cash true to its true purpose. Bitcoin Cash has to be adopted on a global scale and people like btcfork maintain this unshakable spirit and also support all those who intend to enter the world of Bitcoin Cash.

Summary,

A priori when I talked to btcfork he wasn't sure which. The material he provided had the potential to be one of my articles dedicated to prominent figures in the Bitcoin Cash community, but for me I see them as true heroes as they stand firm defending the real Bitcoin and everything their whitepaper confers.

I am honored to be able to write something more about btcfork so that many in the community have the privilege of knowing something more about them, they are a mandatory reference in the Bitcoin Cash space and actively participate in the promotion of Bitcoin Cash, being in donations to fundraising campaigns as well as simple gestures to support projects that make a difference in the ecosystem.
