Prison makes inmate worst

People entering prison are considered the worst of the worst: murderers, rapists, drug dealers and other people who have committed crimes that society would agree is bad. They are put into a system where they will be taught how to live better or else they will be there for many years to come, or if not for the rest of their life.

It also sets an opportunity for growth, improvement and corrections. People coming out of these prisons can become better people because they've been to prison and know how to be reformed and are able to live a better life.

As I look around the world, and read about it, I often wonder whether this; criminality is a big issue. The world is seeing more and more crime, and I have to wonder whether the way we deal with criminals, is increasing the problem or decreasing it. To be fair, I don't think that all of these crimes are committed by people who are from prison. In fact, I think that most of them are not. But I do think that the people in prison, tend to be people who have gone down a bad path and when they get out; to quote the words of Frankie Goes to Hollywood, "They're coming out, and going straight".

It is my belief that prisons do not work; in fact, they increase crime. In various countries around the world, people are attacking the policy of putting people in Prison. It seems that many think that it is time to rethink what we are doing with criminals.

Prisons make inmates worse, prisons offer an opportunity at improvement, prisons set inmates back into society.

1. Prisons Make Inmates Worse

This is a great argument, and valid one indeed! However, it's not a task that is simple as it looks. When we talk about criminals we are talking about a very broad spectrum of people. And to classify them all in simply "bad" would be unfair, because that doesn't really show the overall picture, some are fair and some are of good character.

2. Prisons Offer an Opportunity at Improvement

There are hundreds of programs set up for the prisoners who have an interest to improve themselves, like the GED classes for example. Nevertheless, despite the efforts to improve the prison system, there is always a small percentage who have no interest to change their ways and often these inmates are the ones who end up back in prison with a criminal record.

3. Prisons Set Inmates Back into Society

This is probably the most important of them all. After serving the terms and years given to be in prison. The former inmates began a new life that led most of them back to their past or harden them more as a criminal. That is the life of rejection, discrimination.

The essence and advantage of prisons would have been

The advantages of the prison system have been often talks about, but we have yet to see any improvements on a system that has been around for centuries. The reason? Well, we only look at one side of the equation. We talk and believe that rehabilitation, and reducing the crime rate, and all other good stuff, are the essence of prison, right? What we don't realize that prisons create is criminals. A criminal is someone who breaks the law, and he is someone who breaks the law because he wanted to. And if he wanted to do so, it is more than likely that after his release he would be a repeat offender.

People would argue that we need prisons to keep our communities safe from crime. The cost of imprisoning criminals, feeding the system, health and management, on the other hand it creates criminals. The majority of inmates are imprisoned for violent crimes and most experience traumatic events within their childhood. People that experience violence as child are more likely to commit violent crimes as an adult (U.S. Department of Justice). These acts of violence create a vicious cycle that puts more people in prison creating even more criminals to be imprisoned.

We can shoot the doors to prison, if we all do things right and improve on all our witnesses. LOVE is the most essential key to lockdown prisons

I do not believe that prison with its measures help offenders to become better persons. People who want to change do it for their own good because prison policies are not aimed at reintegrating the individual into society but at punishment as such for the crime committed.

You are right though, prison does make some people worst, so what do you think should be done to criminals who breaks the law?
