Freedom of speech

Freedom of speech is the freedom to speak freely without censorship. The term freedom of expression is sometimes used synonymously, but includes any act of seeking, receiving and imparting information or ideas, even if the information is unpopular or deemed offensive.

The right to freedom of speech is recognized as a human right under Article 19 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and recognized in international human rights law in the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR). Article 19 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights states that "everyone shall have the right to freedom of opinion and expression; this right includes freedom to hold opinions without interference and to seek, receive and impart information and ideas through any media and regardless of frontiers".

Freedom of speech is a human right. It is a human right that's hard for people to appreciate, until it is taken away from them. There are many advantages of freedom of speech, and in this article I will highlight them.

The first advantage is that we get more information, and more accurate information. In some countries where free speech is not allowed there is censorship. Big corporations such as google and Facebook allow you to share anything you want, as long as it doesn't encourage any violence or sex related content.

Censorship is used by governments and other institutions to prevent the public from getting accurate information about things like war crimes and government corruption. Those who oppose freedom of speech try to hide negative information about themselves or their cause by censoring things like books and blogs.

Freedom of speech is a good thing. But freedom of speech does have some disadvantages. That's why I'm going to say, a lot of the time, freedom of speech is a bad thing. If you think about it, people get teased into saying things. Or they feel like they can't speak up for themselves because too many people are going to be against them.

And that's not good. What if people are being told they can't say certain things because they don't say them in a certain way? There are so many things that have to be taken into consideration when you're talking about freedom of speech.
