A young boy called Tade was a son to a very renowned retired chief judge in the city. He was about to be sentenced to prison for an arm robbery case he was involved in. The judge who was to make the judgment had known the boy from childhood, for he was well closed to the boy father who was a senior judge and a mentor to him. And had been a friend to their family from his tender age.
The boy’s father was a famous legal scholar and a retired chief judge. He is the author of so many exhaustive books of study one of which was entitled, “The Law is against crime.” He was also known for standing for the truth and nothing truth but the truth. Not only that, but he is fair in all judgment.
His son never take after his legacy as was known to be notorious and always commit crimes. The recent one he committed was to be caught by a group of accompanies to Rob a bank. His father’s as a retired chief judge had everything money could buy, had an estate, lots of landed property. Likewise, his mom is a renowned businesswoman. She travels all over to purchase goods and items to stock her shop.
On the final court session, there was a huge drama that brought regret and lesson to other parents. The judge interviewed Tade before placing his final judgment.
Magistrate:- what do you remember of your father, when he was still in service?.
Tade:- Hmm, I remember him so well, your honour and went on silent.
Magistrate:- trying to probe the offender’s conscience, he then said “As you are about to be sentenced to jail, and you're thinking of your Old wonderful dad, what do you remember most clearly about him?”
There was much silence in the court hall. Then the judge received an answer from Tade, but this answer he had not expected.
Tade:- I remember when I went to him for a piece of advice. All I got was a look from him, and he focuses back on the book he was writing, later he said, ‘Run along, boy; I’m busy!’. Paused a bit and continued I went to him for companionship, but he turned me down, saying “Run along, son; this book must be finished!’.
Final word from Tade was “your honour, you remember him as a great lawyer. But I will forever remember him as a lost friend.” This really surprised the magistrate he muttered to himself, “Alas! Successful in career but failed in raise his boy!”. He took a deep breath and shake his head before continuing with the session.
The magistrate had no option than to pass his judgment. Tade and his robbery mate were sent to 15yrs imprisonment with hard labour.
The news went around and a lot of mocking and abuse from the press and people around them. The chief judge and his had realized their mistake, they decided to spend their remaining day’s on earth to correct the mistake of their youth. With the help of the magistrate judge that pronounced the judgment Tade was able to get pardon within 2yrs and has become a new man. He was warmly welcomed home, and they all left happy.
Family should be prioritized over things. That is mostly the mistake of adults these days I guess. Sometimes they are too engrossed with their own that when their children come to them, they would tell them to go play. Or would give them money to go buy something just so they won't get bothered... Quite sad actually.
