Build your self-esteem in April

Are you tired of hanging around people who are less than enthused about your life goals? Do you feel as if everyone else is doing better than you in every conceivable way? Stop it! This kind of thinking fosters a negative self-image, and it’s not good for anyone. If you start looking around and noticing that most people are more successful than you, then you will start to feel like a failure. It’s no fun at all to live in this kind of internalized misery. You might have to do some heavy research to uncover the source of your self-esteem, but the effort is worth it.

Trust your instincts

Let's start with the basics: do you like what you see when you look in the mirror? If yes, you're on the right track. However, if no, work on it. Surround yourself with positive people

Some of the things that you can do to boost your self-esteem are: make a list of everything you like about yourself; give compliments to others; do things that make you feel better about yourself; surround yourself with positive people; watch funny movies and practice over-the-top compliments in front of the mirror. Make it a habit to wake up in the morning and think of at least three things that you're grateful for, or people who makes your life a little bit better.

In other words, build habits that improve your self-esteem and go against the ones that make you feel bad. You will soon notice how much better you feel.

You might want to consider these tips, on how to boost your self-esteem in the month of April:

·        Be realistic – take a step back from your thoughts and look at the big picture. For example, the failure that you are focusing on so much is probably only a small part of a much bigger picture.

·        Wisely listen to your criticism – if you are being criticised, it is probably because you have an important role to play.

·        The tougher the journey, the brighter the destination - it is hard to appreciate something that came too easily.

·        The truth doesn’t hurt - if you can handle the truth, you will be able to grow.

·        Plan your day wisely – spend just one hour each day planning what you would like to achieve tomorrow. This will help you prioritise efficiently.

·        No self-pity - don’t waste a minute thinking about what others have that you don’t, instead focus on how you can do better next time.

·        Social support – whenever we face difficult times, it helps to turn to our friends and family for support and encouragement.

·        Know your strengths and weaknesses - work on your weaknesses first and leave your strengths till last as they are easy to build upon and will only get better with practice.

·        Face it head-on - try not to ignore your problems, but instead confront them directly. Acknowledge them and deal with them!

·        Be positive – make a conscious effort to think positive of yourself and others around you.

I will always think positive and works towards my plans although I don’t have any plan for this month than to keep on chasing this year aim.
