Lakes:

Basically Lakes are large, standing waters of great depth. Lakes are formed by the weathering and erosion of rocks on land. The water flows from either melting ice or rainwater falling on mountains. This water carries sediments into the lake bed, where it is trapped as layers of sediment or mud.Lakes are bodies of freshwater that are covered with water. The water zone may be more or less deep. Lakes occupy areas formed when glaciers receded.

Laguna Colorado,Bolivia

The most beautiful Laguna colorada lake is located in the Laguna Colorada Natural Reserve, at 3,000 meters above sea level. It is one of the 20 most important flamingo breeding areas in the country and saw its first tourists arrive in the 1950s. Laguna Colorada has a surface area of approximately 22 square kilometers and covers part of the salt flats known as Salar de Coipasa. It is surrounded by high plateaus and hills that play host to Andean condors, skuas and other species.

Dead sea lake , Jordan

The Jordanian Dead Sea lake is located near the northwest shore of the Dead Sea. The lake area consists of a large shallow water body, bordered by sand dunes and areas with low hygroscopic marl. The main tributary of this lake is Wadi Seer. This lake receives its flows from various smaller streams and local rainfall events. The main physiographic feature in this area is the rift valley; its structure was formed as a result of subsidence which caused uplift of the surrounding land mass forming a horst or lithocone feature. Geologically, it is located on the eastern side of Jordan Valley fault zone and most likely formed due to the continuing movement along this fault zone.

Lake como, Italy

Lake Como is one of the most beautiful lakes of Italy, with more than 70 square miles (180 sq km) of water. The lake has no access to the sea so it is entirely dependent on rainfall and snowmelt for replenishment. Lake Como has three major arms: the eastern or Varese arm to Brissago, then westward between Lezzeno and Cernobbio; there are also other smaller rias on both sides of the lake.

Crater lake, Oregon

Lake Tahoe is a year-round destination with winter sports such as skiing and snowshoeing attracting tourists from around the world

Lake Baikal,Russia

Lake Baikal is a spectacular lake located in Siberia between Russia and Mongolia that is over 25 million years old and is 1,600 ft. deep at its deepest point. It is the largest body of freshwater in the world, so clear that you can see through it to the bottom, with water temperatures remaining between 29°-45°F all year long. Its icy waters contain more fresh water than all of North America's Great Lakes combined.

Inle lake , Myanmar

The beautiful Inle Lake is situated in a valley, surrounded by high mountains and nearly encircled by hills. In summer it is densely covered with lotus flowers; in autumn, with golden leaves; and during winter, when the water is frozen over, the lake presents an extraordinary appearance: islands of ice are surrounded by water, like gems set in crystal.

Lake Hiller, Australia

Lake Hiller is one of the most beautiful lakes in central Australia. It is located in Anangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara (APY) Lands, at an altitude of 883 meters above sea level and covers an area of about thirteen square kilometers (4 sq mi). Lake Hillier is unique in that its waters are a deep sapphire blue colour.

Moraine lake ,Alberta Canada

Lake Moraine is a beautiful destination in Alberta, Canada. The scenery around the lake is breathtaking and visitors enjoy the amazing views of the glacier that used to cover this area thousands of years ago. Lake Moraine is located within Banff National Park, near Calgary in western Canada.

Lake pichola,India

Lake Pichola is a freshwater lake, which is considered to be one of the largest fresh water lakes in India. It is located in the city of Udaipur in Rajasthan state. Lake Pichola was formed due to the action of rivers Banas and Chambal on a Pleistocene limestone ridge.

The Pichola Lake is about 32 square miles and surrounded by city of Udaipur, Rajasthan. The whole lake is divided into 3 main parts- Upper Lake, Lower Lake and Jag Mandir Island.
