At around 01.00 in the morning my father just returned from the island of Bali because he had business, suddenly he came to my bedroom and woke me who was fast asleep with a pair of this type of chicken.

The age of chicks from 0-1 months is the most susceptible to disease, what I often study and observe is
1. The chick's coop smells bad because of rising ammonia. This causes the chicks to get sick, lack appetite and die. You should give probiotics to the chicks' drink to reduce ammonia in the coop.
2. The chick coop is not warm enough. The chick coop is not warm enough causing the chicks to gather and other chicks are trampled and die. If the chick coop is warm then the chicks spread and do not gather at one point.
3. Air circulation, plays an important role in reducing the heat in the chick coop so that the chicks get new air and are not stressed.
4. Provide appropriate feed for chicks, especially special feed for chicks with 20% - 21% protein that will help accelerate the growth of chicks.
5. Always maintain the cleanliness of the place to eat and drink chicks to avoid harmful bacteria.
That's all the points that I share so that the chicks stay healthy and agile.
Taking good care of chickens
Taking good care of chickens will reduce the risk of death rates. We must pay attention and always note the mistakes that have been experienced in raising chickens. That will make the experience of raising chickens even more.
No need to be afraid to fail raising chickens, there we will learn a lot and strengthen mentally to become a good chicken farmer.

Developing a Second Bacteria
All day long, I was busy developing the second bacteria, because the previous one was almost gone.
Developing these bacteria requires an anaerobic fermentation process for 14 days. After 14 days through the fermentation process, it will become a probiotic that is ready to be used for a mixture of chicken drinks and chicken feed.
You can see some of the ingredients I used, quite a lot right? :D
There are yakult, tapai, papaya fruit, rice flour, 1 bottle of yellow bacteria, pineapple fruit, palm sugar, Moringa leaves.
All of the above ingredients are food from bacteria, which will multiply later because the food sources are fulfilled.
Everything is organic, to keep my chickens healthy and comfortable in the chicken coop.
Normal Walk
After a few days in quarantine, this chicken can stand up and walk again, she can jump here and there.
I'm happy to see this chicken can walk normally again, but for now she is still separated from her friends, because I don't want her to get injured again.
When you see a chicken is paralyzed and can still move, don't panic. Give calcium intake to chicken feed to help strengthen the chicken bones.
Helping Lame Chicken Feet
This poor chicken is in the recovery period, because the leg of this chicken was limping due to being crushed by her fat friend, so she could not walk normally.
The treatment that I did was to separate the chickens from the quarantine cage and feed the chickens with calcium to strengthen the bones of the chickens so they can stand up again.
After she could walk and stand a little, I took her out of the cage so she could move more freely and play with the sand.
That's all I did to my chicken that can't walk. I hope she can walk normally.
Perch Above
Chickens will naturally look for a high place to roost at night. To avoid cold soil and evaporation of ammonia in chicken manure.
Yeah It's their instinct, even before I had a chicken coop like this, my chickens perched on trees at night.
For that I looked for a log so that my chickens could perch on the wood at night.
Over 2 Weeks Old
I can't believe this chick is more than 2 weeks old. During the maintenance of these chicks, they only use probiotics (not chemical drugs) in their drinking mixture.
I am very grateful that the absorption of feed nutrients is maximized with the presence of these probiotics, the chicks become healthy and agile, the appetite remains good, and the chicks' feces don't smell bad.
Probiotics are a collection of good bacteria that are very helpful for chicken digestion.

Chicks crow from an early age

This morning as usual I always feed my chickens, suddenly from a distance I heard the sound of a chick crowing. Of course I was curious and peeked at the hole in the chick's cage. I was very surprised to see this chick crowing.
It's really cute watching him grow so fast, and be able to crow at 11 days old. This is very rare for me haha.
Pay attention to the distance of the lights
When chicks have just hatched, they need some warmth, especially when you use a chick coop like mine.
The distance between the lamp and the floor mat is about 4 fingers, pay attention to the air circulation too, if the chicks' cage is not warm enough add a lamp.
As long as the chick coop is comfortable and warm, the chicks stay healthy and agile.
Egg Harvest
Today I harvested some eggs, there are about 17 eggs that I have taken from 3 hens in my chicken coop.
That's a lot and I'm very happy, so I don't have to buy many more eggs in the market. This is the advantage of having chickens that are still producing, we can get several eggs every day.
I often cook eggs mixed with noodles it is very delicious.

Genetic Difference
I like to observe some of the chicken farmers in the facebook community to see what kind of chicken they have.
I met many types of chickens in the community until finally, I became interested in raising 2 types of chickens, namely Madagascar Chicken and Merawang Chicken.
Why did I choose those 2 types of chicken? because it is very interesting, for Madagascar Chickens have little feathers, look bald and are very adorable. Meanwhile, Merawang Chickens grow fast, have a round body shape and are very adorable too.
And currently still saving to buy Merawang Chicken. I hope to be able to buy it soon.
This genetic difference is a good idea to find the advantages and disadvantages of each chicken. That is my hobby.

Learn to Adapt
After descending from the hatching machine, these Madagascar chicks learn to adapt to their older siblings who hatched first.

Chicken Coop Health
There are several factors that cause chicken death such as closed or intensive chicken coop models.

I taught 1 chick to drink water, so that the chicks could teach their other friends.
Of course, these chicks can immediately drink water and then teach their friends how to drink, it looks very funny when seeing the first time the chicks drink water.
I always do this for newly hatched chicks so they can adapt quickly.
Need Help
I helped break the egg shells, so that the chicks could breathe and survive. Because when it was time to hatch I saw that the eggs didn't crack and finally I helped them so that the chicks didn't run out of oxygen and energy in the shell.
So I broke half the egg shell and the chick was saved. Look at the photo on the right now this chick is safe and alive and now he is learning to walk.

Solid Bacteria Development
A few days ago I got a gift from a Facebook friend, he is also a chicken farmer. He gave solid bacteria to me for free.
He also taught me how to grow these good bacteria, so I don't always buy probiotics. You see the bamboo leaves in that plastic covered bucket? it's not a bunch of organic waste haha.
In the bucket there are bamboo leaves, bamboo roots, bamboo soil, tapai, pineapple and papaya that have been blended, yakult, rice flour, etc. All are food ingredients for good bacteria which will later become probiotics.
After that, don't forget to close the lid tightly to ferment for 2 weeks, and can be given to drinks and chicken food so that chicken feces don't smell bad, decompose quickly, and food is completely absorbed.
Raising Chickens
Raising chickens is fun if the cost of feed, the price of chicken is economical, so it makes people want to raise chickens even more excited.
Often I find the chickens sold through online media are too expensive, for a class of chicken whose purpose is to enter the pan, it should be cheaper.
In the future, I want to multiply chickens and sell them at affordable and economical prices, so that small-scale chicken farmers can be helped. Of course with very good quality chickens and affordable prices.
Morning mood
In the morning after feeding my chickens, I sit and relax while listening to the sound of my chickens clamoring for a place to lay their eggs.
