Lowering Body Temperature Have you ever seen chickens bathing in the ground during the rainy season in your chicken coop? I'm sure it's very rare because the soil is moist and the temperature is too cold, besides that the chickens don't like to bathe in the ground in the rainy season. The picture I gave is, my chickens are bathing in the ground when the weather is hot, they always do this to reduce the heat in the chicken's body and avoid heatstress.

Yup i can see as well, our rooster do regularly once they feel so much cold they want to be in the soil to make warm of the whole body, it is doing as a relaxing and warming their body
Yes it's great for chickens, and they love earthen baths.
I've never seen chickens bathing in the ground but I'm sure that must be refreshing, especially when the weather is really hot.
You are right, besides that, it also fixes the feathers of the chicken to keep it shiny.
Oh so that's the reason behind them doing that. I thoughy they were itchy and that's their way of scratching their body. Hehe.
I think they are also doing it if they have problems with small parasites on their bodies.
Hahaha I never seen like that before because our chicken in our farm are free. We always feed them first thing in the morning, then go everywhere they go and come back in evening to rest. In their hut, we put a long straight branches feets high above the ground. All of them sleep in lines hahahaha so nice so look at. Then eat again in morning, and be back at evening. That's all the routine I had seen. 😂
