Philippine Independence

What if the Philippines did not fought for its independence? Will it be prosperous? Will we experience the same torture our ancestors experienced back then? No one can say that the answers to those questions are either fact nor fallacy. But we can assume that we can experience all of those bad scenarios happened hundreds of years ago.

Originally, Philippine is a country where Mayans became our first ancestors. But it didnt last long since the Chinese came and their culture became a part of us. Philippines are so rich in different aspects that other countries were hooked by the beauty of it. Until one day, Spanish came, led by the Portuguese Ferdinand Magellan, and the peaceful life of the Filipinos got into a chaotic situation. During the Spanish colonization last for more than 300 years, life became tragic to all Filipinos due to abuse and unfair treatment of Spanish towards us as what Jose Rizal wrote in his novel. The novel became famous that made the Spanish burn all the books that was published here in the Philippines. And also, it became the stepping stone for us Filipino to see the how cruel and unfair life is during Spanish colonization, revolution came. But its not a success since Americans took advantage of it. Americans rule us after they had an agreement between Spain. It wasnt long but the fact that they had a war between Japanese back then is a total chaos, because our country became the battle ground during World War 2. The noise, the chaos, the voices, fires, bombs and guns and those who were abused during the war were pathetic. But those scenarios turn to peace when we had our independence.

Our independence became the stepping stone for our new journey. We cant say that it became perfect since there are still issues arising even up to these days. And also, we cant blame our ancestors for what they did because we were not in their shoes. We dont know how hard life is back then and theyre not the artists of whats the present status of our country. Its us, not them.

Sometimes fighting for what is right is not a lawful act yet the right way to create changes, to be a living testimony or proof in this life. Again, the question is, what if we didnt fight for our independence, my answer was stated above. We might be a part of another country which is not our own, or we may be experiencing scenarios Ive mention above. We are nothing. But, even though they bring us trauma, some of their culture were helpful for us to rise and be in this state. This is just my plain opinion, no hate just love.

What happened in the past is not part of the colorful history that we have. So I can say that fighting for our rights is inevitable. And it's still happening now. Sadly with our own countrymen.
