All around the world, instant noodles has become famous. We usually like to prepare it during rush hours when you dont't have much time to prepare a descent meal for yourself and your family. But do you know that eating instant noodles has its benefits and disadvantages as well?

Aside from its easy preparation instant noodles contains several micronutrients that comes from fortified wheat flour. Some are iron, manganese, folate and B vita. These are essential for our blood and bones. It also contains a little bit of protein and fiber.

It was also said that people who eats instant noodles had a greater intake of thiamine and a higher intake of riboflavin than those who did not eat instant noodles according to some research. Thiamine helps prevent complications in the nervous system, brain, muscles, heart, stomach, and intestines. It is also responsible in the flow of electrolytes in and out of our muscle and nerve cells. While Riboflavin is a vitamin that is needed for growth and helps the body break down carbohydrates, proteins and fats to produce energy, and it allows oxygen to be used by the body.

How ever, eating instant noodles has its disadvantages also. Instant noodles are made to be stored for a longer shelf life, they are highly processed. They are low on nutritive content; high on fat, calories and sodium; and are adorned with artificial colours, preservatives, additives and flavourings that causes certain cancer and heart diseases. It contains a large amount of MSG that can lead some health disorders specially our nervous system.

Most instant noodles are made from refined flour. Refined flour has no fiber it causes slowing down our digestive system, and can often lead to weight gain, stress, headaches and migraines.

Some studies concluded that excessive consumption of instant noodle can not only trigger obesity but also metabolic ailments like diabetes, high blood pressure, hypertension, heart problems and so on.

There are even news about Maggi that thier noodles containing lead that has been a controversy and has affected other instant noodles manufacturers but this time you can't just let people be aware of it. They still come back into picking those well wrapped bricks of instant noodles into their groceries.

Consumption of instant noodles should be limited atleast once per week to prevent further diseases that may occur. We all know that too much of something is not beneficial.

I agree that instant noodles is not a healthy food. From the contents alone, they contain more unhealthful ingredients than nutritive ones. I don't know why people are just heeding warnings from these foods.

For me it's not healthy in anyway, because of that too much preservatives, salt, and msg content. I only allow kids and us too adults to eat noodles one a week. There's a lot of option because we all know how cook 😂 so, dish is not an issue. But, yeah I love noodles too.

That lead issye was from years ago. Right now what we monitor in fda is the borax content used as a preservative then there's also the issue with the refined flours but the fortification law is in effect here so that news is also a bit outdated. And the kind of flour and materials used per conpany still varies so this is a bit of a mean generalization

borax? as in those used in making glass.? Yeah the lead issue was a past issue but we don't know what they would add next we know that manufactures doesn't give a damn if their consumers became ill by slowly killing them just for profit. I appreciate your additional info. I know i'm a bit of generalizing but business is business you can't find good products nowadays easily.. Most range from 1:10.

Borax as in the one used in cleaning materials too. And contrary to beliefs, they do care. You'll rarely see deviations in repeated testings since they follow fda standards strictly. Only a few honestly deviate and they get warnings and penalties or get their items pulled out. That's why there are fortification laws and standards upheld. It's up to the consumers in the end about their consumptions since there are warnings in the labels and very strict material testing are done to begin with. I just don't enjoy that the manufacturing sector is the target of your irritation right now and as much as business is business, the researchers behind every product take so much consideration for the consumers. It's all in the promotion of the other parties involved in the business

Well, i apologize if i gave a negative definition about manufacturers.✌️ I may include "some" of the words i define. One thing more, i'm not irritated i am just stating my views. My basis are the news we heard about food products containing this and that, This is not happening in our country alone. I can see that we are tight in our checking our products. I appreciate you for correcting me and i do not intend to give someone a bad mood .
But may i ask you how did products come out in the market if it was checked thoroughly then and be pulled out later? I understand that even a strict security can't block everything that leaks from its blockade. We all are not perfect.. 😊

It's alrught because not everyone knows the workings of manufacturing in that much details. As for the late pull out, most of those are unlicensed or end up bypassing the whole fda approval stage or sometimes they send fake samples for the approval tests. Then there's the case of those actually being in the small scale business (like the lambanog fiasco) then the number of foreign products that "accidentally" get approved from customs. But yeah, half the time they send false or delayed sample for analysis so by the time analysis is done, the product has already made it to the market by then. The distributors sometimes can't even wait a week or so for approval :< and even when the products reach the shelf, there are field officers that buy samples at random just for retesting, that's usually where the faults are found tbh and where we know the sample for approval was falsified

Ooh thats explains... 🤔

I hope this helped a bit because it's sad when the food sector in fda gets blamed when we get the most samples on a regular basis to do and there were so many times we had to do really extended OTs for those ;;-;;

At home we only cook instant noodles when my dad is not around because he's too strict with what we eat. Sometimes we also cook some instant noodles when he's at home but we have to add vegetables like malunggay or patola and add some eggs to make it a healthy meal. When I started to work and live away from my family I saw the chance to eat instant noodles whenever I want but it didn't have a good effect on me and I finally understood my dad's strictness.

Yes, its contents has bad effect on us. You are fortunate your dad cares about your familys' health. I also cook instant noodles this time but same as you do, mixed it with veges specially now that we have a great harvest of squash from mother-in-laws garden

Instant noodles is not healthy but sometimes people choose to prepare it because it instant. I remember when I was working in Manila and I am leaving alone, noodles is the one of the reason why I survived my meals hehe. Sometimes I have in a mood to cook so that I preferred to cook instant noodles.

But now that I am here in the province. I eat instant noodles minimally. Maybe once in a 2 weeks like that and per instant noodles I add 2 eggs.

The name alone describes it. So am i., when those times when we are having financial problem, instant noodles the solution for a cheap budget. But as the years go by, and learning from other older parents also, i learned it has more disadvantages than its benefits. So i rather go picking some greens in the backyard than consuming a killing food😁
