Bloodbath . 2

Part 1

Magda heard the commotion in her neighbour's house. She wasn't used to it. It was almost 2 years when the house was bought by the couple. Hers was the closest to their house. She can say they were newlywed at that time. Sweet, she smirked. She was a widow and lives alone. Her 3 children got married and lived with their own. She lived a terrible marriage but manage to survive for the sake of her children. So every time she saw couples that are enjoying the contentment of being married, she felt envy and she doubts if they would last.

She still remembered that the first time she met her new neighbours personally when they invited her to attend to their baby's 1st birthday. She learned their name David and Jane and their baby, Chloe. She's not a party goer but the smile in their faces enticed her. She attended at first but wasn't followed later even they insisted, she declined. She doesn't feel close to her neighbours. She wanted them to mind their own. But these couples are just so persistent in making her close to them. Little presents and homemade dishes she always received. And managed to be used to it already. David and Jane always leave her a smile before getting into their car. Their new nanny became her new friend too. Somehow she never felt alone anymore.

But seems everything suddenly changed after the couple met an accident. It was 5 months ago. Jane got seriously injured. While David is surprisingly well. The pair didn't come home for almost a month. Magda has no idea which hospital they were confined that's why she can't even visit them. No one is in the house. One month after that, they came back home. Somehow she missed talking to them but she was surprised they didn't notice her since then. She can't talk to them properly as if they are always running out of time when they are out. The nanny was gone, so they always took the baby with them. Jane doesn't talk much also but when she looked at her, there were pleadings in her eyes. No more short greetings. Then comes the disturbance now and then. A hint of violence she can sense. Even it's not that loud she can feel it. She always hears Jane screams. She notions that her bad story of a marriage is happening to her neighbour as well. She let it pass. For now.

Until one night when that hateful noise happened again, she was about to intervene. She got out of her bed and with a quick pace from her house she was about to cross the border, but she noticed a man in the couple's garage. The border between her house and the couples' are just bushes about 3 ft. tall that she planted a long time ago. She thought that he's their other neighbour that wanted to interfere as well. She was about to get closer and approach that "someone" when he turned to her direction when he noticed her and hastily walked away. Magda stepped straight to the house and began pressing the doorbell. She was determined not to keep silent anymore. It took her minutes before someone opened the door. It was from David. There was fury in his eyes. Irritation was painted in his face. Maybe he was interrupted in maltreating with his wife that is why he was annoyed. But upon opening the door, his expressions changed. His expressions began to soften rapidly when she knew it was her and he smiled. Magda doesn't like the smile. It looks devilish. She asked for Jane but David said she was upstairs and not feeling well. "I bet she is", she mumbled to herself. She insisted she wants to talk to Jane. There, a hint of annoyance was in his eyes again. He just nods and went upstairs.

Three minutes later, Jane went down, Chloe was on shoulders asleep. Magda noticed the fresh bruise in Janes left cheek, her lips bit swollen as well. Her face was a bit damp, she speculated Jane made a quick wash up. But what surprised  Magda more was the quick move of Jane towards her and panicking. She holds her sleeve and guides her towards the kitchen. Her lips trembling."Please help me,..take me out of here,  ... He is a devil..he's not the man I loved anymore.! " Jane was babbling, not in her sanity maybe, Magda assumed. Who can blame him?. Magda tried to comfort her but Jane was adamant not to let her out without an assurance. Then Jane revealed everything her husband is doing at her. It's confirmed. Magda's history is happening to this woman in front of her. But she didn't expect the next revelation she heard. It kept her speechless for a moment. After a minute of silence,e she bade goodbye and assured Jane she will find a way to help her as soon as she can.

She was about to hold the doorknob when someone yanked her hair that made her flinch and pushed her to the wall. Suddenly everything went black.
