Do you decide logically or intuitively?

Making a decision seems easy, but I think it's the hardest job in the world. Because the decisions we make guide us. We choose a path according to our preferences, the end of that path is either light or dark. Do we have time to sit down and think about this struggle for life? Modern life is busy, fast and changeable. In this modern life, we all make automatic and reckless decisions. The result is sometimes success, sometimes regret.

When making decisions, people use two separate systems, one logical and the other intuitive. The logical system makes decisions by measuring and establishing cause-effect relationships. The intuitive system does not recognize logic, evaluates the data according to its own rules and takes decisions very quickly based on its experiences.

There are moments in everyone's life when they say, “Something inside me says…” These are the moments when one's intuition kicks in. Intuitive decision-making is the moments when one listens to their “inner voice”.

With human intuition, he evaluates the data very quickly, analyzes the situation he is in and makes decisions. Most of the time people's consciousness lags behind their intuition. While consciousness is dealing with perceiving the data, human intuition evaluates all the information and reaches the decision.

When people meet someone new, they make their decision about that person within five to ten seconds. According to psychologists, this decision constitutes the most valuable part of all the information about that person in a lifetime. In very few cases, one arrives at a conclusion contrary to the first impression. This is a purely intuitive decision.

Women listen to their instincts and inner voices more than men and express this openly. There are many women who say, "My inner voice does not say that," and take decisions contrary to the predicted logic and achieve extremely accurate results.

Men, on the other hand, pride themselves on making decisions with their logic rather than their intuition. Because they believe that being rational is an advantage, they think that listening to their intuition is a weakness. However, many men also have intuitive competencies, but they dull themselves by not using these competencies.

The situations where intuition helps people the most are extraordinary situations that require urgent decision. In the event of a fire, an explosion, an attack, the decisions people make in a split second are usually the right ones. Many people wonder how they made such a good decision all of a sudden.

Intuitive decision-making comes into play not only in moments of danger, but also in important moments that guide human life. When a person decides to work in a job, he finds the right way with his intuition when choosing his wife to share his life with.

Malcom Gladwell says that one of the most important advantages of human beings is to make decisions intuitively by bringing the information he has accumulated over the years to the surface when he needs it. Making the right decision with little information is thanks to the intuitive power of the human being. Intuition is the ability to "think without thinking". (Blink)

Intuitions are not random emotional reactions of humans. Intuitions are methods of measurement, evaluation and decision-making that are formed in one's mind as a result of the sum of the information that a person carries in his genes, from the society he lives in and from his own personal experience.

This competence is in every human being. But what an expert who has worked on a subject for many years measures with "eye judgment" and "hands on" is very valuable. These intuitions are invaluable qualities that make a difference in a surgeon, an artist, a lawyer, a cook, and anyone who is a “master” of their subject.

Human intuition is often a reliable guide. Our intuitions measure what is going on around us without us even being aware of it; warns us of dangers and enables us to act in the most appropriate way.

But the situations where intuition mislead people are not to be underestimated. There are situations in which a person can make big mistakes if his mind does not come into play.

When a person is stressed, in a mood that is too optimistic or too pessimistic, or when he wants something too much, his emotions become very intense, very dominant. Most people confuse these emotional responses with their intuition. However, emotional intensity is the enemy of making the right decision. When a person is a prisoner of his emotions, his decisions become inaccurate, misleading and destructive. Wrong job, wrong spouse choices are often at the root of excessive emotional choices.

Intuition is human wisdom, but one should not confuse intuitions with emotions. People are mistaken when they confuse their desires with their intuition. The short-cut decision-making ways that people use with their intuition can mislead them and lead them to wrong decisions.

There is a delicate balance when it comes to intuition. A person can make the right decisions if he knows how to get rid of the effects of his emotions and prejudices while listening to his inner voice.

There are many situations where intuition makes people do wrong:

Everyone's eyes are wrong. It is impossible not to be mistaken. No matter how much he trusts himself, he must be aware that the human eye can be mistaken. Otherwise, it can make big mistakes.

Every person's memory re-evaluates the events they have experienced with today's knowledge and experience and distorts what they have experienced. When a person is not aware of this weakness, he is mistaken if he thinks this distorted information is intuition.

Stress causes people to make wrong decisions. If a person is overconfident and takes decisions under stress, he will make mistakes. Emotions that arise under stress have nothing to do with intuition.

Some people have weaknesses in certain subjects. Some are hypersensitive to money. They can never make the right decision in monetary matters. Their feelings about it mislead them.

Some people have an extreme inclination to the opposite sex, some to the strong, some to the new. These people often make mistakes if they only listen to their desires in these matters. Although they think they are listening to their intuition, they are actually captive to their emotions.

While listening to the inner voice, one should try to distinguish whether it is a prejudice, an emotional reaction or an intuition. To do this, a person should try to know himself, be aware of his own prejudices and emotional states in which he enters.

People who are aware of their prejudices and the emotional movement within them make better decisions. People who make good decisions are people who know how to use both their intellect and intuition together.

Intuition saves lives, but irrational decisions lead to disaster. Wisdom is knowing one's self and being able to distinguish between feelings and intuitions.
