Coolest thing in nature during my childhood

For today's blog I'll be talking about some of the coolest thing that I can find in nature and maybe you find it cool as well. Most of this things are tiny but has its distinct beauty that amazes me.

Here are they:

1.Fireflies

Have you seen any firefly in the night? I seldom see them lately. Last night I saw a firefly when I go out from the house to see my wifi outside, and the cute little firefly come near to me. And honestly, it makes me smile . When we are still young my friends and I, used to catch fireflies during the night. We will put it on a bottle and sometimes we just placed it on a table and just let them blink their light. I usually put it in my hand and just watched it.

One time, I used to catch fireflies and I bring it on my bed inside the mosquito net, and it serves as my light when I sleep. Have you tried that?

We have a song in bisaya that says,

Maybe some of the bisaya blogger here already knew the song. We used to sing this during the night when we are playing outside the house with my neighbors.

2.Dragonfly

Who catches dragonfly? 💁

I used to catch dragonflies too when I was a kid, my siblings and I often make it as a playtime. But dragonflies looks pity when my brothers catched them, because they gonna pull away their tails and they tied the insect and make it flew. We used rubber band to get the dragonflies and we placed it on a cup maybe 10 or 15 dragonflies just died. Or sometimes they let the dragonflies fight by facing both insect. My siblings really are not lover of insect, they just played it.

3.Rainbow

Filipinos have a superstitious belief about rainbow, that when you should not point your fingers on it, so that your fingers won't be cut off.

But I pointed my fingers for many times on rainbows and still complete until now, hehe. It's just a story that passed through generation to generation.

When I was a kid, everytime we saw a rainbow in the sky, we were shouting and called my friends and neighbors and let them see it as well. I am curious too, where is the beginning and the end of that rainbow, so we keep on walking until it fades away.

Those are the top 3 of the coolest thing(specifically insects) that I found in nature, but when we say literally cool I can say that it's a :

River (Sapa)

It's one of our most" tambayan ", hang out place when we are still a kid, with my family and friends. During weekend, Saturday and Sunday, we usually go to the river and as our parents washed our clothes we used to take a bath too together with the horse or carabao's in the river. Yes there are a lot of carabao's in the river before, because those carabao needs a lot of water during noontime because they are easily get exhausted when the weather is too hot. Everytime the carabao will poop, we will just let it pass by and go back to the river again. 🤦We just ignore it, and don't mind the poop, instead we make fun of it, heheh.

My most memorable days those days is when we brought our lunch which is pack with banana leaves and our viand is only dried fish or bulad. We ate altogether "nagkakamay lang", with bare hands, and we were too happy.

The coolest fruit when I was a kid :

Manzanitas, "aratelis in tagalog, it's like cherry

Some says it's a food for the birds only, but it taste good and sweet, so we usually climb the aratelis trees in our backyard and stayed there and ate the fruit. My parents told us that we're like birds too because we often ate those fruits.

My brothers also used aratelis, unripe fruit as a bullet in their toy gun, and they will shoot us while we are on a tree, so we suddenly come down and cry.

But, when we are on the ground, we will then chase them and also by using our toy gun with the unripe manzanitas,those are one of funny days of my childhood.

I'm sure it's not just me who find those things cool during our childhood.With all the batang 90's or 80's here. And also even the kids today, still appreciate those things, but not that kind of experience before that they have done today.

When I was a kid, our hang out is usually with the place of nature, in the river, trees and with animals like horse and carabao, by riding them. I still believe that there are still kids nowadays who are still enjoying those simple things than gadgets. Especially those who are not having smartphones, they can recognized the coolest thing in nature.
