It is not enough to just know and memorize quotes or sayings. We should also consider to understand its meanings and applications in life. One of the famous and most common saying today is the phrase "No Man is an Island". This phrase is a quotation from the English Metaphysical poet John Donne.

At first, you will think that this phrase has nothing to deeply think about. But, this saying is deep and it talks about how man should not isolate himself from others and should always be a part of a group or a community in order to survive.

An island is independent and can suffice itself and man is different from it. A man is not like an island, a man is not self-sufficient and should sometimes depend to other people in order to survive. In other words, man should rely to one another and help each other to survive in this world. A man has its own weakness and limitations. In order for him to overcome this weakness and limitations, he need the help and the strength of other people around him. Human beings are social creatures and cannot function independently.

Just think about this, if you are alone in your house, what would you feel? Of course you will feel lonely and frightened. In order for you to not feel these feelings, you will instinctively call your family or your friend for you to not feel alone. This is a proof that human beings are a social creature. Meaning that they need to be with other people for them to survive and thrive.
