When the baker inside kicked in...👨🍳 Yesterday was a tough day. Today is a special day. At least I chose to make it like one. Well, I just saw two packs of old bread in the fridge and my mind went crazy to whip a simple snack and dessert. I only needed a can of evaporated milk, a can of mango flavored condensed milk (which I admit was already past beyond the expiry date. Haha.), two whole eggs, butter, sugar, salt, vanilla extract, cooking oil, and food coloring. I sliced the bread into small pieces and put it into the other ingredients. Let the mixture stand for some minutes before transferring it to the oiled baking pan. Then I steamed it for forty five minutes before I baked it again in the oven for another fifteen minutes to get rid of the excess moisture. Voila! I got a yummy home-baked bread pudding! No kidding. 🍰 Wanna join me with a slice over a cup of coffee? 💙 PS. Please don't imitate me using expired products. If you do, use them at your own risk. ＫＩＮＡＫＡＷ I had this popular local delicacy during my coffee time. It is called Kinakaw in the vernacular. This pastry is made of flour and other ingredients which are shaped into rings then fried and coated with sugar syrup. RAIN ROSE It's RED! Yes, the rose and the rainfall warning from the NDRRMC are both red. This crimson rose laden with rain drops defies the gloom of the day. At least something worth my lenses. Anyway, I've done filling all the basins and containers with rain water because there is water interruption again. It happens every time there's a continuous rainfall. Now I have to look for some movies to watch and enjoy in this cold afternoon. Lastly, I was suddenly awaken in the morning just before sunrise because of the sudden jolt caused by a strong earthquake in our area. I hope everyone is safe. ABO Fish (tiger toothed croaker) It's lunchtime and my food is ready. I fried the Abo fish that I bought last time. This fish is commonly found in our region. It has a mild taste and believed to be rich in omega 3. That's why it is a little pricey than that of Bangus (milk fish). I have a little achara (pickled papaya), some citrus (calamansi), and slices of pineapple to complete the set. Wet Market Does a wet market becomes dry at all? After a series of the meat-filled menus of the holidays my body cries for some fish and vegetables. So, I went to the wet market amidst the stormy weather in oder to buy them. I like the feel and rawness of the wet market which make me more sensible. Rain? or Shine? The weather seems odd today. It is undecided whether to lavish us a day of sunshine or a downpour. The sun keeps on peering in between the clouds after a series of intermittent rains. Sometimes we are in such a state in our life. I learned at heart that we should never make decisions of any kind (especially a major one) if we are overwhelmed with emotions. For we would only regret later the irrationality of our action when all the feelings settle down. Lastly, I just want to show off this single hibiscus flower with two toned petals. Purple cheer. Enjoying a serving of this sweet Biko-L. I just coined the term. Biko (rice cake) with the capital "L" which stands for Lila (Filipino word for Violet). Food color is added to the glutinous rice to achieve this luxurious "ube" (purple yam) color. I think there is some ambivalence in here. For according to chromatics, violet and purple are two different shades. So, which is which then? Well, I leave that to your judgement.
