-October Sky- Before I drift into the wonderland of Morpheus I would like to share the October Sky that I captured in the morning today. -SEÑORITA- The first day of October brought me Señorita. My cousin arrived in the morning bringing a bunch of banana called Señorita that he harvested from the farm. Fish for dinner. It has been our customary to eat fish on Fridays unless there's a special occasion. So, I just ordered online from our favorite restaurant this Fish Fillet Sweet and Sour. I remembered an Italian friend (when I was in Italy) who was surprised upon explaining to her about this sweet and sour dish. It seemed an unthinkable blend for her. No matter how busy we could get with our daily cares we can't ignore that evident Yuletide spirit in the air. Parol is a star-shaped Filipino Christmas lantern that has evolved through the years. -A Helping Hand- To lend a helping hand: that is the message that I reflected from this Sunday’s Gospel. Feeling sorry for someone in need is not enough. A concrete action towards the receiver should accompany that sentiment no matter how small it is. It could be in the form of temporal (material) or spiritual (prayer) things as long as they are sincere. Indifference, not doing good nor bad, is the gravest sin that I can commit for it is the very antithesis of the (Lord's) commandment of love. Enjoy a blessed Sunday, dear friends. -Sweet Cane- These tall perennial grass called sugar cane kindled some joyful childhood memories in me. We used to have these planted in our ancestral home. Our granny cut a stalk, peeled it off and sliced it into smaller sticks which we chewed to get the sucrose-rich juice with delight. It was simply fun! That's why I did not hesitate to take some snaps of these canes when I passed by them during my walk. We have a so so weather this morning. I firmly hope it would stay rainless throughout the day. "YOU" are the answer. Sometimes you are caught in the mundanities of everyday hustles just to survive life until you exhaust all your energy and fervor. You lose the sense of everything including life. Then, you start a litany of questions just to fill in the void that is haunting you. Hey, it's not the end. The answers that you might be trying to find outward may be none other than You. You are of value. What you may be missing in life depends on how you look at yourself. Start being grateful for what you possess rather than be regretful for what you can't have. Not everything is in your power of control. Accept that. It could be an opportunity for re-inventing yourself. Let go and be free. Appreciate the simple things that life is abound rather than chase gigantic dreams that offers but emptiness. And when you're tired of it all a deep sigh is all you need. Maybe. Okay back to reality. Lol. -Sinigang sa Kahel- The rain stopped already. And I just finished my kitchen duties. I prepared "sinigang sa kahel" for lunch. It is a stewed dish with sour and savory taste. For the main ingredient I used fresh "Buraw" (short mackerel fish). I added spices and vegetables like freshly picked "kangkong" (water spinach) from our yard. Then I mixed it with "Kahel" (citrus) juice for that sweet-sour flavor, a mild version from that piquant classic "sinigang." Vamos a comer, amigos! 🍽 =♤= #VR_Photography #food #Filipinodish #myrecipe

-The Weird Passion Fruit of Saturday- How's your Saturday, dear friends? I am fully rested today because the power went out for more than eight hours. So, I just slept my boredom away. Lol. However, while outside the house, I got curious about this dangling papery round thing that is attached at the tip of the passion fruit plant. I checked it out and took some snaps. Then suddenly its occupant flew out fiercely towards me. 'twas a bee, indeed! Thanks to my good reflexes I avoided a certainly painful sting. What a day! The Feather I found a feather on the ground at my doorstep today. There are some beliefs about discovering a feather on the ground. One of which suggests that you're not alone. It means that a spiritual being watches over you, protecting and encouraging you. Sounds good. That appeals to me more than others. However, I'm not superstitious but I still believe in the supernatural beings. Does finding a feather really mean anything? What is your cultural belief about it? On a lighter note, when I saw that feather I thought that a bird has lost its plume. I smiled to myself. So am I because I just had my haircut this morning after nine long months. Lol. Photographs and Memories Back when I was younger. I was arranging my files in the morning when I found some old photographs that sent me down memory lane. This is one particular copy taken fifteen years ago. Whew! Time flies so fast! I went with some friends for a tour in the island of Bohol. One of our destinations was the famous Chocolate Hills. Unfortunately we were not able to capture the "chocolate hills" per se because it was long past the dry season and the hills had slowly returned to its original verdant state. -The Food Hawker- Is HONESTY still the best policy? I heard the familiar voice of the food hawker that regularly pass by our street to sell a variety of snack products. She comes from another town that is known for the production of local delicacies. So, I summoned her to come inside to see what she brought this time. Then I selected some items and paid her. She handed me some change which I didn't bother to check. After a couple of minutes she returned knocking at the gate to my surprise. There and then she apologized for giving me the wrong amount of change unintentionally. Apparently there was a little error in the computation. And she gave me the lacking amount embarrassedly for which I graciously accepted. I praised her for her honesty, a value that is becoming unpopular nowadays. Goin' bananas in the morning. Some of the organically grown bananas from the farm that my cousin brought us last week are now fully ripe and ready to consume. So, I just eaten six fingers in a row for breakfast. I love bananas for the following reasons, and a lot more besides. 🍌 Potassium, for the heart 🍌 Serotonin, for the good mood 🍌 Pectin, for improved digestion 📌 Fun Facts: 🔸️A bunch of bananas is called a " hand" while a single one is called a "finger." 🔸️ Banana is derived from an Arab word "banan" which means "finger." 🔸️ Banana tree? 37th Monday Great morning, my dear good friends. Have you started your Monday just yet? Feel the rush to meet some deadlines? Or just as confused as a sleepyhead? I learned that there are fifty two Challenging Mondays each year. So, that makes about fifteen more are left To tackle and pursue. Nevertheless, it is not a particular day That is an issue in life But how we perceive each day And welcome it as a gift. For the days of the week continue Their cycle year in and year out Whether you like it or not. Hence, it is on how we manage our view In life that matters most. Therefore, on your feet to start And make a difference. ~𝓥.𝓡. xXx We have lots of sunshine this morning. I looked around the yard and saw same things everyday. I just want to capture the beauty of the daylight. So, I held my cam under the papaya tree and the giant taro plant to take some snaps. ANGKO Here comes the thunderstorm. So, I decided to make myself a cup of hot black coffee. I paired it to our local delicacy called Angko -- a Philippine version of the Mochi of Japan. It is made of glutinous rice flour with sweetened ground peanut as filling.
