Is Barcelona Keeping Messi Against His Will a Good Idea?

Some weeks back, Lionel Messi handed the Barcelona board a transfer request that will see him exit from the club after spending all his football career there.

The news of him deciding to leave the club took the whole football and sporting world by Storm as no one saw it coming, but one could have speculated due to the recent poor run of form from Barcelona and inability to win a single title this season and Messi wasn't happy with all happenings around the club, with the new coach coming to claim he doesn't want to work with old players like Suarez and the rest.

After his transfer request, the club had stated that for Messi to leave the club, a release clause of €700Million must be paid according to the terms on the contract but Messi's Father came out to say otherwise that there's no such thing as that amount on the release clause.

With this happening, the only way Messi would leave without paying that release clause is to take Barcelona to court.

Media's were already speculating that Messi is considering taking Barcelona to court.

Three days ago via an interview he had with Goal.com Messi made it known that he has no plans of taking Barcelona to court as this is the club that has given him so much as a player and taking them to court won't feel right but he's certainly not happy with the board.

He had chosen to remain at Barcelona not because he doesn't want to leave anymore but because he doesn't want to take Barcelona to court and will be playing for them until the end of the season when his contract expires.

I'm very much certain he will find his way out at the end of next season.

My Question now; is Barcelona forcing Messi to remain at the club against his will a good idea?

I think this might have a great deal of negative effects on him and the club this season, this could be a decision they will regret. 

I believe Messi has given so much to this club that it shouldn't be a Problem if he chooses to Leave now. A grand farewell ceremony should be held for him rather than some brutal legal issues
