Enhance Engagement, But Don't Miss Commitment

Do you create content that people love?

I know it is so awkward to ask such a question that it may be considered foolish in terms of awareness. Since ReadCash is a blogging platform, it is more than implied that most of the members are bloggers. In a broader meaning, we all are content creators.

Many of you have been publishing blogs and other forms of content, such as images, audio, video, and mixtures of multiple media formats.

Most of you are fantastic content creators. I like them while scanning the homepage.

I read and concentrate on some that resonate with the frequencies of my mental frequency bands. I really love to consume articles and multimedia content that match the ethics and integrity I carry on in my life.

You continue to write super inspiring content

Do you write super inspiring posts? I mean, are you busy writing inspirational content almost every day? I like to be inspired when I feel down. I often read short inspirational quotes from celebrities of the past.

But, too much inspiration seems to repel the audience on a regular workday. The content publishing domain is almost saturated with inspiration and famous quotes. Thus, the readers/consumers seem to be lost in the ocean of inspirational posts/content.

  • Readers/consumers wish to read or watch something new from the content creators. That is why people always search for original articles and videos that say the content creators' personal experiences. They don't accept it as it is told. Consumers need to see some proof of real-world life experiences.

And you significantly enhance the engagement

I see so many good articles. I am often lost about which one to read first. The quality of writing is something that can't be qualified. But, the platform's algorithmic account rewards articles based on uncertain parameters!

I notice articles with a very poor engagement get big upvotes from the algorithm despite the high engagement from a large numbers of blogger readers.

In spite of what the robot rewards, your loving fan followers/subscribers support you with ample upvotes and comments. The articles get high engagement in terms of views and comments.

But, you fail to keep the commitment!

Sometimes, it may happen that the engagement on your published articles can't inspire you to continue engaging with a large number of comments. Maybe, because your random rewards are low, or you missed the timing of a subject. It may affect your reciprocation of engagement.

In content publishing, the most important is to keep the audience happy and motivated with your content. If you fail to reciprocate the loving engagement of your audience, you miss a very important aspect. To my limited understanding, it is called commitment to the readers or consumers.

Whatsoever the reason may be, a content creator should always be committed to the expectation of the following audience. The content creators may have to choose topics and subjects the audience likes. There should be follow-up content on a subject that the consumers liked earlier. There should also be corrections and modifications on topics the audience disapproved of in the past.

You shouldn't lose your credibility as a content creator!

A content creator should address the feelings of the readers/consumers. If, as a content creator, you miss understanding the heartbeats of the audience, you may start losing parts of the audience.

We should not forget that we are our indirect consumers. Common audiences are our fellow content creators. We should respect and support our fellow content creators and their published content.

Content creation is like a small business, and our content is our product. We shouldn't try to negate our fellow content creator's published content. No business solution or product can win the consumers' minds with bad words for other similar products in the market.

Concluding thoughts

Enhancing engagement is the most lovely goal of all content creators.

  • While the enhancement increases, the creators become complacent about commitment to their fan followers, their "bread-winning" consumers.

  • Once the consumers don't see commitment, a part of them doesn't come again. Gradually, the substantial fan followers will remain as sleeping or dormant followers.

For every consumer item in the market, the consumers buy products as returning customers. New consumers always increase slowly and may also become long-term customers. If the company fails to keep the promise of delivering quality products, the vast fan-following consumers may stop coming back.

The title theme is not my idea. It is an experiential knowledge acquired by academicians, entrepreneurs, business owners, and practitioners in due course of their daily grinding.

  • Enhancing engagement may be a tough goal to achieve, but, remaining committed to the engaged consumers, is the toughest job for any content creator, business owner, or startup business.

It is true knowledge and principles applicable in any field of business and entrepreneurship in human lives.

I share this knowledge as a learner of practical principles of life, career, and business.

Yes, experimentation and testing with blog topics help. I also changed the topics and style of writing sometimes.

All you say is right... just sometimes it's difficult to know what people want to read sometimes you post something and you get surprise by the comments and other times it's the opposite, you think it's interesting but no one think as you... I try to write what I feel and feel like and well maybe it's not the best strategy but this is more a personal task for me, who knows in future what I will do.

You are correct in writing as per your mental prompt. I also follow a similar strategy. Recently, I have tried to accommodate the mass appeal. The best would be to follow the writing instinct and accommodate the readers'/commenters' topics as well.

Correct sir, engagement is the key it creates a sense of faint space in both the engagers mind making their connection strong. Also when I or you or others engage, a writer will feel that people are really reading their articles thoroughly.

Engagement verifies real-world presence. Comments and replies to comments authenticate the engagements. It extends toward committed engagements.

Wow, that was a very educational read, sir, and thank you for sharing this. If the author of the article I read does not respond or acknowledged my comment, I do feel a little bit disheartened. But it's okay, we can't please everyone.

It is not possible to be perfect. But we can try. I replied to 100+ comments on LinkedIn articles in 2015. In those days, there used to be excellent engagement on LinkedIn. After Microsoft acquired LinkedIn, the engagement has been drastically reduced (most probably, by controlling the notification algorithm!)

Sorry for the late response sir. Do you think it was wise for Linkedin to reduce engagement by controlling the notification algorithm?

LinkedIn is now a Microsoft (acquired) company. MS does anything erratically out of ego advised by one of the founders who pretends as a philanthropist.

Wow, that egoistic founder may put LinkedIn in a compromising situation. Thanks for the reply sir.

Indeed with the content writing we also need to engage with other users. Reading different articles increase our knowledge about different things and also increase our vocabulary.

In content publishing, engagement grows with reciprocation. In business, the sales increase with the companies' quality of products and after-sales services.
