A blind person is someone who lose the sense of sight. Some case is in born, others is acquired through accidents. A blind person may a kid or an adult. Some has still small light to see others may have total darkness. In accidental blindness, some case could be cured through eye transplant if nerves is still functional but in born blindness rarely had the chance. Being blind means in this world is being different and some of them encounter bullying and rejection. It's totally difficult for us to cope blindedness. Some gone to school for the blind to learn things as if never blind just unique. Others gone suicidal. Others see it as a blessing. Others see it as a cursed.

In this Sunday's gospel let's read a story from the Bible of a blind man. Let us be reminded and inspired of his story with the Lord.

Holy Gospel,

Mark 10:46-52

They reached Jericho; and as he left Jericho with his disciples and a great crowd, Bartimaeus -- that is, the son of Timaeus -- a blind beggar, was sitting at the side of the road. When he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to shout and cry out, 'Son of David, Jesus, have pity on me.' And many of them scolded him and told him to keep quiet, but he only shouted all the louder, 'Son of David, have pity on me.' Jesus stopped and said, 'Call him here.' So they called the blind man over. 'Courage,' they said, 'get up; he is calling you.' So throwing off his cloak, he jumped up and went to Jesus. Then Jesus spoke, 'What do you want me to do for you?' The blind man said to him, 'Rabbuni, let me see again.'Jesus said to him, 'Go; your faith has saved you.' And at once his sight returned and he followed him along the road.

Reflection

As we can read here the blind man is very persistent in calling Jesus even though the disciples try to shut him but he continue calling. And when the Lord heard him, the Lord asked what he wanted and he told him he wanted to see again. Jesus told him that his faith has saved him and his sight return and he followed Jesus.

I want to focus on to the blind man's attitude. First is his persistence or perseverance believing that he will be answered upon his calling. He continue calling and never stop even if he don't know he could be heard. We should be like the blind man who never lose hope calling, praying, asking the Lord for his divine Providence. His blessings and his graces. We must stop trying because the Lord God is listening to us and eventually in his perfect time he will answer all your prayer depend upon his response as we all know he has three types of responses to our prayers. Yes, because you need and deserve it. No, because it's not time yet. And no, because he prepared something bigger.

Second attitude of the blind man that I want to give emphasize is not listening to people who stop him from calling Jesus. Like the blind man we should not stop our faith when others tell us to. When problems and struggles in life hinder us to call him. Let's make it as an opportunity to call him even more. When life is tough, when we feel unsure, doubtful and weak, we make sure we rest in him. We make sure that when life is hard we pray even harder.

Third attitude is having the faith. Like the blind man in the gospel who have strong faith, we make like him. We should have strong faith on believing that God will surely be there for us. Believing that he is always with us. To guide us. Give us strength. To fight the battles with us. Lets have strong faith because the faith that we have as what the Lord said, is the one who saved us. Our strong faith will saved us from the blindness that we experience. The one saved us from the darkness.

Brothers and sisters in Christ. Let this gospel remind us that we as the blind man, as we experienced struggles, and problems in life we sometimes become blind of God's grace and become away from him. We become blind of the truth and we get blinded by anger and doubts because of the pain, of the brokeness. But my dear brothers and sisters, like the blind man we must call upon the Lord to help us raise from the darkness and blindedness that we experience. We must call and never stop calling through prayers and most importantly to have faith. Because faith will saved us. Our faith will be the one to enlighten us and give us hope. Our faith will give us the things that we are hoping and praying. And when we do let's be like the blind man as well who followed Jesus along the road. Yes, when we do are already saved and raised from the struggles, from the dark, we must not forget the Lord who saved us. We must continue to pray for him and follow his footstep so that we will never get lost or be blinded again.

Good evening and happy Sunday to everyone.

Thanks for this great word for today. I love the part where you says there are three responses from God to us. You are right. People think God doesn't answer them but He does and when He doesn't do what we expected from Him, let's still hold onto our faith and keep believing.

Our faith will define us. Even if we can see God physically we should believe that in our hearts God exists. As he promise that he will never leave us nor forsake us if we believe on Him that he is our saviour.
