Happy Sunday everyone. It's been awhile now since I last posted a food for the soul article and here I go again. It's a very wonderful word of God and reminder to all of us that I want to share it to you all. Let's not take it too long here is our gospel for today together with my reflection.

The Holy Gospel

According to Luke 12:32-48

'There is no need to be afraid, little flock, for it has pleased your Father to give you the kingdom. 'Sell your possessions and give to those in need. Get yourselves purses that do not wear out, treasure that will not fail you, in heaven where no thief can reach it and no moth destroy it. For wherever your treasure is, that is where your heart will be too. 'See that you have your belts done up and your lamps lit. Be like people waiting for their master to return from the wedding feast, ready to open the door as soon as he comes and knocks. Blessed those servants whom the master finds awake when he comes. In truth I tell you, he will do up his belt, sit them down at table and wait on them. It may be in the second watch that he comes, or in the third, but blessed are those servants if he finds them ready. You may be quite sure of this, that if the householder had known at what time the burglar would come, he would not have let anyone break through the wall of his house. You too must stand ready, because the Son of man is coming at an hour you do not expect.' Peter said, 'Lord, do you mean this parable for us, or for everyone?' The Lord replied, 'Who, then, is the wise and trustworthy steward whom the master will place over his household to give them at the proper time their allowance of food? Blessed that servant if his master's arrival finds him doing exactly that. I tell you truly, he will put him in charge of everything that he owns. But if the servant says to himself, "My master is taking his time coming," and sets about beating the menservants and the servant-girls, and eating and drinking and getting drunk, his master will come on a day he does not expect and at an hour he does not know. The master will cut him off and send him to the same fate as the unfaithful. 'The servant who knows what his master wants, but has got nothing ready and done nothing in accord with those wishes, will be given a great many strokes of the lash. The one who did not know, but has acted in such a way that he deserves a beating, will be given fewer strokes. When someone is given a great deal, a great deal will be demanded of that person; when someone is entrusted with a great deal, of that person even more will be expected.

Reflection

The gospel for today reminds us to be ready for the lord will come to our doorstep like a thief that rob the house. It only mean one thing "be prepared". We need to prepare because life is full of uncertainties and we only have borrowed life. We don't know when will be the time the Lord will claim what is truly his. In this world there are three things we need to prepare. What are those things?

  1. Spirit

We need to prepare first and foremost is our spirit because what makes us alive is our spirit. The spirit that the Lord given to us as a gift. Everything in this world is temporary thus we must not build treasure in this world because we cannot bring this when we die. Do not leave your spiritual aspect behind while you buy all expensive things in this world because when the spirit is weak so as your physical and emotional aspect. If you want to nourish your whole being start from within.

  1. Health

Another aspect that we need to prepare is our health. Our body is the temple of the holy spirit thus take care of your body. Avoid any vices that could ruin your body. Take good care of your body because you can't do your mission and purpose when your body is weak. To live out your purpose you must first avoid things that destroys the body. Remember that whatever things that destroys the body, destroys the soul. So, avoid the temptations alcohol, smoke, illegal drugs, or even multiple partner. When you allow evil spirit to control you eventually your body and soul will destroy. Stay healthy always.

  1. Financial

We cannot serve our purpose well as well if we don't have the resources to do so. That is why we need to prepare our financial aspect too. We need to be financially capable to live life accordingly. Some point when people are financially challenge they most likely to live a dishonest life. Doing things that is not according to the will of the lord. Other reason to financially ready is to prepare your loveones when you depart in this world. Making sure you are not living them with debt and other financial problems. A life with financial stability is more likely to live happily. Thus financially ready is very important.

We need to be ready in this three aspect and not neglect the other part. You cannot be ready spiritually if you are living with unhealthy lives especially within those vices. More so, you cannot live life with good health if you cannot afford to eat three times a day and don't live in a safe and healthy environment.

Our bishop always reminded us this three aspect for us to be spiritually ready this two other aspects must be present as well and other things shall be added into you and would follow.

I believe the first one should be given utmost priority. It is the most crucial. One has to check his relationship with the Lord. Good works won't make us inherit heaven.
