Oh wow, do I have a story to tell you!
My very first source of affiliate income that I made online was from a link I had created that pointed to an Amazon product on my writing blog, The Insane Writer.
And while the affiliate link only provided $1.00, it was the best moment of my blogging life because I was making money online!
My next big attempt at creating a source of income online didn't come until almost 9 years later, when I made the choice to publish the first part of my sci-fi series, "The Generation." I must admit, getting my novel out there wasn't easy, and promoting my book, I swear, is still one of the hardest things I have ever done.
I thought writing a novel would be easy. Plus, I was new to the world of self-publishing and had no idea how much actual work I was getting myself into. It took me 10 years to write "The Generation", and after I finally took that leap and hit publish, I finally began to see sales from it. While it's not a best seller, to me it was the greatest moment of my writing career.
Yet, if I could change one thing about that moment, I would.
I would have promoted my book a lot more than I did by creating affiliate links and sharing it on every social media platform I am a part of.
All of the products that I love and the work that I am passionate about, I could share and get paid from those participating brands through leads and any of my readers who are interested in purchasing it for themselves.
After I researched and studied affiliate marketing through others who were already successful with it, I started recommending products that I use in my life, and have earned as much as $100 in a matter of a couple of days.
It's not uncommon to hear someone share their love for a product or even service that they truly believe in. When we are really passionate about something, we tend to let our friends and family know about it. Why not get paid for something you are already doing?
And, the best part about affiliate marketing is that it doesn't require hundreds of followers before you see a profit. You get paid, no matter how many customers you recommend. That's the easiest part!
You will need to learn how affiliate marketing works if you want to make money with it. It's not as simple as just sharing your favorite product on a social media post or blog and calling it good.
You'll want to understand the fundamentals of using affiliate links. There is a wrong way and a right way of doing it.
