The biggest problem holding us back is ourselves. It doesn't matter what our dreams are and whether or not we have accomplished the goals that lead us to our dreams, if we cannot move past the thoughts that cause worry, we will never get very far in life.
We are our own worst enemy.
No matter how smart, how talented, or how driven we are, those little words of encouragement we hear from others, won't get us anywhere if we refuse to move forward because we are afraid what will happen if we choose to live our lives to the fullest and accomplish every goal we set for ourselves.
For most, including myself, we create a roadblock that is often known as FEAR.
For some, they are a common phobia such as:
Fear of being alone
Being afraid of heights
Scared of flying
Being fearful of spiders and other bugs
Anxiety or worry about getting a disease or virus like Covid19.
For others such as myself, it is often negativity that threatens our dreams our goals. We often fear:
We are never good enough.
Our goals will be too tough because we have been conditioned to believe that life should be easy.
The idea of failure terrorizes us because we believe it makes us look bad.
But most of all….
We fear the unknown.
Believe me, you are not alone! I've told myself so many lies, made so many excuses that I don't even recognize the truth anymore. And the unknown? It terrifies me!!! I will go into a full-blown anxiety attack if I don't know what is going to happen next.
Every single one of us FEAR something! Yes, we can play the blame game or continue to make excuses, but the truth is.....
We are in control of our life!
Sure, others can and they will try to tell us what to do, what to say, even how to live our lives, but we are in charge of our lives. We are the ones who must push past our fears and fight for our lives no matter how terrifying it may seem.
Baby steps are essential.
If it's one thing I have learned, even the smallest step can lead us to victory! Every step we take no matter how small, is one step closer to our dream goal! But we have to be willing to take that first step!
If you do one thing today, take that step! Start by breaking down what you fear into baby steps.
If you fear heights, break down how you will overcome your fear. Maybe you first baby step might be to find the tallest steps near you. Your second baby step might be to visit those steps on a specific day and so forth.
No matter what you are afraid of in life, you can overcome it. You can succeed! And for those of us who refuse to admit they are scared, well you know what? It is okay to be scared. If we were not afraid, there would be no Area 51 or conspiracy theories, would be no need to continue to wear masks during this covid crisis, but most importantly, there would be no dreams to live. What we choose to do with that fear is up to us.
Isn't it time we choose to overcome those fears instead of allowing them to control us? Isn’t it time we gave ourselves permission to take back our lives, to dream big and crush our goals? Isn't it time you start living your best life?
