Waking up early in the morning has always been my cup of tea. And while I know that some people tend to be early birds like myself, I also know there are others who are night owls, but there are also those of us who wouldn't mind waking up early, yet struggle with that notion.

Whether you love the idea of waking up at 6am or you just want to wake up an hour earlier than you normally do, it is possible and without biting anyone's head off in the process.

And waking up earlier can make you feel more productive, instead of leaving you wondering where in the world did the day go. While it might not ring true for some who do perfectly well being a night owl, others just can't do as well during those hours. I'm proof of one of those, can't do it, souls.

Now that does not mean I'm up at the crack of dawn, but I'm willing to wake up at 5am without a fight. I find that I love being able to wake up at that time to work on articles in wonderful silence because I'm the only one awake.

There are so many unbelievable benefits to waking up early. However, not everyone is the same. But, if what you are doing isn't working for you or if you feel as if you never have enough time in the day to do anything, then maybe it's time to learn how to wake up earlier every day.

I do know it's not always easy waking up early, but I also know that when you train your body to wake up earlier, it can completely change your day in a positive way.

So why on earth would you want to wake up early?

Well for one, you will get to bask in the glory of our beautiful sun and it's positive energy. Whereas when you stay up late at night, then sleep later in the day, you don't get to experience the sunlight or its energy.

When you wake up to the sunrise, you not only get to spend more time in the sunlight, but you also get to do more outdoor activities.

When you wake up later in the day, you stand the chance of not being able to enjoy as much of that positive energy and all that the sun has to offer. And if you work inside, you might not get to enjoy it at all.

Waking up early means time to enjoy a walk or run, hiking, working outdoors, or simply enjoying that morning cup of herbal tea or coffee on the front porch before you start your day. It means you won't feel like you are rushing through your day.

When you wake up later in the day, you stand the chance of feeling rushed. You may even find yourself skipping breakfast, forgetting something important, or risking your life and the lives of others because you are running late for work. Rushing through your day can even make you feel irritated.

Even just waking an hour earlier can allow you to have time to eat breakfast, read that book you have been meaning to start reading, getting in a workout, spending a few more precious moments with your family, and taking the time to pay attention to your driving when heading to work.

I often find myself waking up a little earlier than the rest of the household to spend some extra time working on my side hustles. That extra hour allowed me to make extra money without losing precious time with my family.

By waking earlier, I've also found I sleep better and no longer need an alarm clock to get up in the morning. My body automatically wakes each day around the same time.

While not everyone is an early bird like me, getting a good night's sleep is crucial for focus, health, and more.

If you're having trouble getting enough sleep and want to feel more energized during the day, consider:

  • Understanding why you are not able to wake up early. Are you staying up later than usual? Do you have a lot on your plate that keeps you too busy? Are you consuming caffeine midday? Maybe the neighbor's dog is keeping you up all night. Figuring out what's preventing you from waking up earlier will allow you to decide your next step on resolving the issue.

  • Setting an alarm until your body automatically adjusts to waking up on time. If you love hitting the snooze button, set several alarms back to back and make sure that you must get out of bed to reach the alarm.

  • Getting some much-needed sleep instead of staying up late at night. Once you have a good understanding of what's keeping you awake, find a way to resolve it for some much-needed beauty rest. If you are simply a night owl and have a hard time just going to sleep. Try doing a little reading before bed or sipping a cup of lavender or chamomile tea. Just make sure you are not watching television or viewing your phone or tablet since the light can keep you awake.

  • Reaching for a natural energy drink like RISE from Mantra Labs to get your day started. Not only are you giving your body an energy boost, but you are also giving it herbs, vitamins, and nutrients your body may be missing.
