4 Essential Oils for ADHD
After being diagnosed with ADHD, I decided to take a natural alternative approach to help ease my symptoms, including the use of essential oils.
Most of the essential oils I use for ADHD have a calming or uplifting effect, which helps my stress levels and mood tremendously.
An essential oil can be applied in several ways. The oils can be mixed with a carrier oil such as almond to prevent irritation, then applied directly to the skin for a relaxing or uplifting aromatic scent.
A few drops of your favorite Essential oil for ADHD can also be applied to a light bulb in a living room lamp or ceiling fan.
If youYou can also add a few drops of essential oils to your cloth mask. When it's necessary to wear my mask, I sometimes have to deal with my own breath, so adding just one or two drops to the fabric makes things smell a whole lot nicer and uplift my mood!
I have an aromatherapy diffuser like the Innogear, which is one I use personally, simply add a few drops for an uplifting or relaxing experience.
Essential oils for ADHD can also be applied to your pillow case for a relaxing night's rest.
Some of the most popular essential oils for ADHD are:
Chamomile
Not just for teas, Chamomile is another one of my favorite essential oils because of it's calming fragrance. Chamomile may help reduce the stress and anxiety symptoms of ADHD. The essential oil can be used in your bedtime routine after a stressful day or when your anxiety is at its worst.
Lavender
One of my favorite essential oils, Lavender has a relaxing scent that may help reduce anxiety, a symptom of ADHD. Keep a bottle of Lavender essential oil by your nightstand for those nights when you need to add a few drops to your diffuser or pillowcase for a good night's sleep.
Orange
Orange essential oil has an uplifting citrus aroma that may help ease the depression and anxiety symptoms of ADHD as well as boost your mood and help you focus. Stash a bottle of Orange oil in your vehicle for moments like rush hour traffic or a quick dash into a crowded store where a mask is essential.
Peppermint
Peppermint is an essential oil that may help calm hypertension and anxiety in ADHD. A few drops of Peppermint oil can be added to your favorite essential diffuser necklace or diluted with a carrier oil and applied lightly to the skin.
And finally, as with any natural alternative treatment, you should always consult with your doctor before incorporating essential oils into your ADHD routine since they can have side effects and counteract with certain medications that you may be taking.
