Let's Play Holi
Hey, do you know what day is Today it's 'HoliDay'. No not that kind of ordinary holiday. It's the day of the Holi Festival, popularly known as the majorly ' Festival Of Colors ' even ' Festival Of Love ' and even ' Festival Of Spring ' haha so many names.
The festival for which we Indians are super excited to celebrate.
This festival is generally celebrated in the account of the divine love between Lord Krishna And Radha. Also, it signifies the triumph of good over evil.
And just before Holi, Holika Dahan is celebrated where people gather around a bonfire and pray that their mind and soul gets purified and any evil in them gets destroyed which I have talked about in my previous post in which we remove our Inner Evils.
After this on the next day, people celebrate Holi and here comes the fun day.
On this day people apply colours to each other and hug each other, water guns, water balloons everything is allowed. Walking on the streets on this day may make you wet as you won't know who threw the water balloon and from which direction. Kids run with masks like this to apply colours to others, haha this one feels funny as they come with lots of confidence towards me but go with a ghost and colourful face.
One good and bad thing about this festival are we promote equality while celebrating this festival no matter rich, poor, gender, caste nothing matters just apply colours and have a fun time. Due to which many times people apply colours to people who don't want and many won't like to be touched by strangers even they have a good thought.
As watercolours sometimes are of poor quality and take time to wash and for some, it causes skin irritation also. But that is when you go for cheaper ones. Go for the naturals. The market has both good and bad ones.
This isn't over it's just the morning quota, In the morning we celebrate with wet colours and in the evening we celebrate with Dust colours known as ' Gulal ' which are easy to wash.
After the morning fun we go to our houses take bath, and have a bit of rest. Then in the evening we wear nice clothes and go to every neighbour and relatives houses as well as friends house nearby, there we softly put gulal on each other's cheek hehe sometimes we make their faces funny like moustaches and beards after that we get tons of special festive food items to eat, at every house we visit. Haha, nice business! Didn't capture them as capturing foods in other houses won't be a mature thing to do.
And at night we gather people from our neighbourhood call them, put the DJ on high sound and just dance and enjoy.
There are some bad things also which happen during this festival as some people like to celebrate more. Drink and drive and riding are common on that day. Even though it's a 'Dry day' for that day. Lots of accidents and unnecessary fights happen during this day. Yesterday only we had to stop two groups fighting, lmao I got some punches from behind but after talking to both the sides, they hugged each other and wished everyone and went in their different directions.
This is among those festivals where the whole neighbourhood feels like a family and those who have issues with each other, they resolve it on this day only. The day's already over, it's a late post. I enjoyed it so much yesterday that I can't explain. My little of but of stress is gone and I think I can write more today. The rest day and HOLIday were spent well.
I really like this festival a lot...and happy holi to you and everyone belong to your religions
