Competitive Gaming Is A Mess
Which can reward you the best, if performed best.
Games, gaming one of the leading profitable sectors of the world providing entertainment to more than 70% of the youth population. The gaming sector has evolved at a great rate from graphics to animations to stories.
There are lots of platforms to play digital games like GBA, Nintendo ds, PSP, PlayStation, PC, Smartphones, Xbox etc.
Lots of choices to choose from. One can enjoy the old age retro classic games also along with the high-end games. But the majority of people play games on smartphones. Smartphones played a key role in boosting the gaming sector. Nowadays more than 80% of Smartphone users irrespective of age have games installed on their phones.
Games are one of the great time pass and mood relievers. But the scenario is different for competitive gaming which I would like to discuss today.
Misbelief:-
Many of us still see gaming as a waste of time but it's not if you not only rely on playing. A gamer can be a content creator on YouTube from which there's a possibility of earning money and can even try in competitive tournaments earning huge amount for winning. Gaming is only a waste if you are spending hours in it and not getting anything.
Gaming is a stress reliever but it can be a stress giver also if you aren't able to perform well or the returns of your effort and time isn't enough which I faced in competitive gaming. SoloQ isn't that frustrating but if a team play is involved then it can be as all of the member's efforts can make you win the game.
My Competitive Gaming Experience
I have played tons of games from the age of 15-19 like 5-to 6 hours every day, like an addiction. As a kid, I didn't think that gaming will let you earn money or there was even a career in it. But recently in September 2021, I decided to start my journey again in a new baby Moba game 'Pokemon Unite', For 3 months I played the 5 man game as solo and reached the highest rank of masters. In the second season I joined a team named Team VoiD, we won some regional tournaments of 5-10$ as the game hype wasn't much in my country, India. Here FPS games like PUBG, COD etc are more famous and very few people like strategy-based games, especially Moba games. As the most famous mobile moba game Mobile Legends was banned in the year 2020 here and from that time there wasn't much scope in playing Moba games in my country.
Everything was working fine we were like the Top 5 teams from India. But after a month one teammate had to leave because his parents weren't happy with spending time in games and so he quit. After that, we recruited another member. We played fine but I noticed we weren't improving at all and it was all due to the new member, he wasn't trying hard. We did the most foolish mistake of dragging the same toxic lineup and eventually, we became the best throwers team, lol. Everyone was so frustrated as we were given 4 hours in the game as the announcement of the World Championship was announced in the previous year's December month. We removed that person and again made a new lineup.
We grind hard and came back to form but we heard the announcement that India isn't given any slot in World Champions. Lmao, it was a heavy blow to all the teams of India who were hoping to compete for the Worlds. Some of us still believed that our announcement will be announced later and we will get the slot but some of us lost interest and ultimately the team was disbanded. Now a few weeks ago we saw the announcement that India got one slot, lol such a bummer.
The captain of our team is again requesting me to join the frustrating grind, lol. I will see how much skill drop we have and how much the other teams have increased, only then I will step in competitive again. Because I can't take dramas like that. And I'm already spending a fair amount of time in blogging.
But I know I have skills and I don't want them to get wasted. I will give it a try one more time.
Final Thoughts
We missed 1000-5000$ regional tournaments after we left the game. Such unlucky people we are. Competitive gaming is a tense thing to deal with if you don't have any support from your country's government or your parents. The World's Championship prize pool happening this year is around 100k $ if I remember correctly. Hmm, if only. Ah, stop that.
Playing games is also a career choice but it's not for everyone. Some choose the competitive sector some the content creating sector.
I guess I was unlucky and impatient and that's why I missed the best time to shine. Btw this game's matchmaking sucks.
I wouldn't have entered again if I was involved in Blockchain gaming but for now I am not as I am seeing it's not that profitable for my time Investment and some have to spend time in it like a job. Am I right?
