Location Major City USA
I have been thinking of how to write this down for monthsπ€ I am NOT trying to offend or judge Anyone. Everyone is responsible for their own health and lives imho. We are ALL adult humans and have to accept our own consequences - whether they be excellent or detrimental.
I am sure that everyone here has friends and family that range on the "pandemic spectrum".
No Big Deal Friends
I personally have some friends that have adopted the "don't believe I can get it" "it's a hoax" mentality.
The people I know that feel this way range from older conservative people (like almost 70 years old) to younger friends (people on their late 20s and 30s mostly) who are very easygoing with their lifestyles (going to bars and camping trips and associating with strangers)
They all have different reasons for feeling the way they feel
I live in the USA so obviously there are people who choose their protocols based on our political leadership . I KIND of understand this logic and I also know that some people feel better when following authority or have guidance.
I personally don't agree (sorry I HAVE to interject here - but unless you are going to come feed me soup in bed and pay my medical bills, I will make my own health decisions and try to be safest for my life and household, lol. I'm NOT political, but I AM an Adult π€ We all will die - I just don't want to be foolish about it)
Other people (I really think) REALLY CANNOT wrap their head around this situation and just do the Ostrich "head in the sand" approach or try to "wish it away" or hide from the virus
Some other people think it's all "fake" because know one "they know" has gotten sick or died and / or it just has not effected them personally
Don't Touch Me Friends
On the other end of the spectrum, I have one friend who has seen almost NO ONE since April. They stay home, get everything delivered, then spray with disinfectant and bring into the house after 15 minutes.
One of my other friends will only see me from 6 feet away and only if we are outside in the sun. (pretty safe protocols - your choice, I really do "get it")π·
Again the reasons vary - One of my friends lost a brother early to the pandemic (30s age range) Who can possibly blame someone after such a loss? π’
Another friend worries about being a "spreader" which I think is an admirable stance (especially during these tough times, nice to see people thinking of others and themselves)β€οΈ
Another friend knows they have underlying possible health issues that could lead to complications if they contract the virus or get ill. I understand that as well - We never know what another person's underlying health issues are or what they may be pre disposed to contracting. Health is a PERSONAL choice and there are way to many variables to have a "perfect" equation for good health. βοΈπ€βοΈ
Middle of the Road - "At That Time" Situational Logic
I live here in the middle personally - I'm definitely NOT going to large gatherings and limiting long exposure to strangers (and their air/breath) when possible. I also wear a mask when shopping or around other people in indoor common areas. I workout outside and try to respect other people's space.
I personally have had to make "judgement calls"
Like - CRAP, we need milk so now I have to go to the store this week etc etc . This is why I say "at that time" because had I known I would have planned differently, but I'm also not going to not drink milk for a week.
Life is fluid and changes constantly. As adults we should know by know (Especially NOW) that we are not in control of everything. We need to be able to stay as safe as possible and make the best decisions for each situation "at that time" π€π€
Not Judging - This is just where I live for now and IT WILL CHANGE (If I go outside and Everyone is π€§ SNEEZING & COUGHING - I will Shut the Doorπ³ FAST)
Social Adjustments
I wrote this just to get my thoughts out and also gain others perspective.
I truly think that Quality of Life is most important π€π€
That means completely different things for each person (I need peace, calm and quietπ personally) Others need family or to be with their π¨βπ©βπ§βπ¦ children to be truly happy. Some people find joy with work, networking and socializing during activities and hobbies. *random emoji alert ππ·π€ΈββοΈ ππββοΈ π πΌππ»π
There is no "formula" for Quality of Life as the recipe is different for Everyone & Seasoned to Your personal taste buds π€
Within my circles of friends I am seeing some of those in isolation that are really struggling with loneliness and isolation. Others are living in a constant state of "red line" fear and always on the edge. Some others are ostracized from family members for not being "safe enough" and others "too safe"
I live in the United States and the division is terrible - some people are angry if you wear a mask -
Again - I "get it" - If I had walked into your store 11 months ago wearing a mask you may have thought "robbery in progress" π²π³π³π³
Yet - Other cities (we have no clear direction here from state to state or even city to city) have a "mask mandate" and you have to wear it
Why do people have such intense anger? π€¬
We are ALL a bit scared and nervous - let's not lash out at each other
I personally think this thing is going to be around for a while (if not forever). I truly hope that we can learn to adjust and live again in the near future.
Dating
Friendships
These relationships will all require adjustments - more now than ever
Either way - Enjoy your best life and "Quality of Life" now and in the future. Try to be patient with all of your friends and family - we are all trying to live our lives as best we can.
Stay Safe β€οΈ 𧑠π π π π π€ π€ π€

Most of my friends were very good . I never met any bad friends who were very helpful and sincere but I miss them a lot now because I have no contact with anyone. And since the advent of this virus, the practice of wearing masks has never been seen in person.
