EXODUS 12:37- 38

  1. And the children of Israel journeyed from Rameses to Succoth, about six hundred thousand on foot that were men, beside children.

  2. And a mixed multitude went up also with them; and flocks, and herds, even very much cattle . (KJV)

The above bible text is continuation of the Israelites journey out of Egypt where they have been subjected to severe hardship, but God had sent Moses to deliver his people (Israelites) from the hands of the Egyptian. Our focus for today in the story is the negative impact of the mixed multitude on the Israelites while on the journey.

At the beginning, the Israelites was not bodered about the mixed multiple, they must have believed that their population was small and can't influence their God given mission. Remember, the vision was for the Israelites,so the mixed multiple do not understand the mission of the journey, but must have followed because of the sign and wonders performed by Moses.

By the time the journey in the wilderness begins to unveil itself, when things seems not to be working according to what they had in mind, they were the first set of people that grumble because they do not share the same vision with the Israelites, but went for the fun of it.

Numbers 11: 1

And when the people complained, it displeased the Lord: and the Lord heard it; and his anger was kindled; and the fire of the Lord burnt among them, and consumed them that were in the uttermost parts of the camp. (KJV)

Even though the bible didn't confirm that ,it was the mixed multiple that first complained, verse 4 of that same chapter gave us a clue.

Number 11: 4

And the mixed multitude among them [the rabble who followed Israel from Egypt] began to lust greatly [for familiar and dainty food], and the Israelites wept again and said, Who will give us meat to eat? ( AMP)

For better understanding, Amplified bible was used. The bible emphasized on lust greatly over things not so significant, this affected the altitude of the Israelites towards food in the subsequent chapter.

The moral here are:

God given vision is for you,and no one can understand it better than you do, don't allow the mixed multiple who featured in it sway you away from the vision.

Other people opinion may hinder your vision. This is because, they are carnally minded and can't comprehend the things of the spirit. So turn a deaf ear to the crowd and look unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith.

The fact that God is leading you that way doesn't guarantee that it won't be tasking, your is to hold tight to his promise believing that he will not forsook you.

May God help us to shun the noise ....(Amen).

Thank for reading........🎹
