Busting The Myth: Flipstarter Is For BCH Projects

I tried thinking about this myth and it didn't make sense to me, so I went to do a bit more research, maybe I'm not well informed. Well, having done my research, I still don't see how this argument is even valid in the sight of anyone.

To really get a full understanding which is a prerequisite for an objective assessment of this argument, you have to understand what flipstarter is really about. According to flipstarter.cash 'Flipstarter provides a way for any project to engage with potential funders in a way that encourages accountability for projects and fairness for funders'. It is built on Bitcoin cash.

From what is stated here, we can clearly see that flipstarter is a peer to peer crowdfunding platform that aims to ensure that funds generated are used for the proposed project every step of the way. As stated it is built on bitcoin cash and this might have contributed to this misconception that it's only used for BCH projects. Now, a glance at the statement from flipstarter.cash, reveals that it's a means to crowdfund projects, but there's absolutely nothing in that statement that limits the projects that can be funded to BCH projects.

A view of the crowdfundimg campaign that has been done on the platform will show that not all of them are about BCH. Maybe a lot of non-BCH related projects have been turned down if that's even possible(I don't know if campaigns are censored) but if it were, it would be because they either lack transparency or clarity. There are about six campaigns listed on the website.

They are as follows:

Knuth: This is a BCH based project that required funding to the tune of 460BCH.

BCHD: This is another BCH project that was funded to the tune of 360BCH.

BCHN: another BCH based project that required 978BCH in funding.

Bitcoin Verde: This was funded to the tune of 241BCH and it was another BCH based project.

All of these projects are well detailed on the flipstarter website, but I won't be summarising them here as they aren't the bone of contention here. Other campaigns on the platform include:

EatBCH: Here is an excerpt from their crowdfunding page 'Over the last two years we have served cooked meals and delivered food bags to people in need and we now ask for your help to secure one more month of operation.'

1. In Venezuela, you support 25 volunteers providing food in 9 locations.

2. In South Sudan, you support 13 volunteers providing food in 11 locations.

This is a project simply aiming to provide food (not BCH) to people in need of it. One again the rigorous requirement of transparency that flipstarter is known for is seen in the level of detail posted on this crowdfunding page. This project had zero affiliation or connection to the promotion or development of BCH. The only valid connection is that it was funded by the BCH community using BCH. A group of volunteers providing food bags to the needy in South Sudan and Venezuela will not do anything for the price, tokenomics or adoption of BCH, but it will definitely go a long way in solving a troubling social problem in the form of hunger, starvation and poverty.

This may not be a big deal for most western countries, hence it might not be appreciated much of you live in one of these very rich countries, but hunger and lack of food security is a real problem in a lot of places on this planet. This is a BCH community effort to contribute to alleviating it. This money could have funded another BCH related project, but it funded a project that had nothing to do with BCH, because the problem was brought on flipstarter.

There's also another one that's funding the provision of clean water in certain countries where access to clean water is a problem. These are not BCH projects, but they were equally fully funded using BCH via the flipstarter platform.

With all this, we can see that every and any project can be funded on flipstarter as long as it's transparent and it actually solve a problem, whether BCH related or not. If the number of projects that have been funded seem to be tilted towards BCH related projects, it's because a lot of people have been led to believe this misconception and as a result do not see flipstarter as a fundraising option, but an honest and objective look at its history will tell the truth of the matter "Flipstarter is not only for BCH projects".
