Marriage of the Dove and the Elephant

I am sure that you have already heard about Frida Khalo, and her husband Diego Rivera. Frida was one of the most popular female painters of all times, and her biggest love Diego, was one of the best muralists of all times. Their works are very popular all arond the world. Art loves appreciate their work, and you definitely should not miss to see some of their artworks.

There is even a museum in Mexico called 'Blue House'. There you can see some of Frida's personal things, some of her work, you can see how was her life going on, and you can realize how amazing she was, if you do not actually konw.

Now, I would like to talk a bit about Frida's marriage. That is very important, and very interesting part of her life.

First of all, let me explain why the dove and the elephant. Frida was wery 'small' woman, she was short and skinny, like a lil girl, and Diego was tall, large man, and because of that people called them the Dove and the Elephant.

Diego was 20 years older than Frida, and marriage with Frida was his third. Frida's mother was against this marriage. Some people were sure that she hates Diego, becaus eshe was a very stric woman, but that is just not true. She had many reasons to dislike him. First of all, he was 20 years older than Frida. Second, she had no marriage behind and he was divorsed twice. Next reason is that hee was atheist, well now that is okay, but they got married in 1929, and back them religion was extremely important for people in Mexico. He was also a communist, and communism was not very popular during the first half od 20th century in Mexico. And the main reason is that Diego was know as a womanizer.

He was an artist, he was free, and because of that he had a lot of time for women.

And, their marriage was everything except good. Their relationship was toxic, was bad for Frida and it seemd impossible. But she was never giving up, and she was fighting for her man, till the end.

While Frida was very young, she had a horrible accident, and because of that she had problems with her back, she had problem with her uterus, and because of that problem she could not have kids. But she wanted kids very much, and she was trying to become a mother, but she lost baby a couple times. There are some people, who think that their marriage would be better, if they had kids.

I personally think that is would not be. If they had kids, Frida would be less sad, but Diego would not be a better husband to her.

She loved him the most. She was ready to do everything for him, but she was betrayed many times, she was hurt many times, and because of that she had to defend herself.

There is a interesting story about Frida and Leon Trotsky. Ad I already said Diego was a communist, and Leon was his good friend. During some crisis that Leon had in Soviet Union he escaped to Mexico. During that period Frida had a love affair with Leon, just to hur her husband. Frida and Diego did not divorced after that, and we do not know was he really hurt, but we guess he was hurt because of that affair. It is also interesting to say, that Frida was a true communist, and after Leon was declared as a traitor, Frida gave up on him. She said that she does not want to ever be connected to him.

One more interesting thing about their marriage is that Frida was finding woman that Diego was cheating on her with. And, she was cheating on Diego with same women, to hurt him, on the same way he was hurting her. She just wanted him to feel same as she was feeling while he was cheating. We again do not know was he really hurt.

Maybe, Diego was not thinking about cheating same things that Frida was. Maybe, for him cheating was not anything bad. We don ot know, because he was never talking about that. He never said what is cheating for him, and why he was cheating on his wife.

The worst thing that Diego ever done to Frida was cheating on her, with her own sister. She was broken after that. She found out that while she was in hospital, after one of many of her surgeries. Her soul was damaged, her hart was broken into million pieces. She did not know what to do. And, who would know? Two most important persons in her life did worst possible thing to her. As I said she was in hospital, she had surgery, and her wounds, for surgery, were sewn. As her soul was hurting so bad, she took the strings out of the wound. She opened her wound, because physical pain was distracting her from the pain of her heart. Wound can not hurt as much as the heart and soul can.

After all that was behind of her, she forgive to both of them. Again she did not divorce form her husband, and she let her sister into her life again.

But they were not a happy family. Never.

No matter what was happening, Frida was not happy at all, and we can see that from her paintings. She wanted to be loved, but her husband was not showing her love. She wanted someone to understand her, but her sister did something horrible to her. Nobody deserves that.

Every single woman deserves to be love, respected and every single woman deserves to be the only woman to her man.

Frida was really amazing, she is one of the most interesting persons during whole history.

But, we should not learn from Frida about love and about marriage.

If he is cheating on you, respect yourself, and leave him. Do not try to hurt him as much as he hurt you. That is not worth is. Just leave.

Frida could find a better man, and every woman which partner is cheating on her can find a better man.

No matter how much you love him, you need to love yourself enough to get up from the table, when respect is not served to you anymore.
