Here in South Serbia, we have one very interesting proverb, it says 'Stra' cuva lojze', for those who do not know what that means, it means that fear is what keeps your grapes safe.
What this proverb is not saying to us, is who needs to be afraid.
We may think that the owner of grapes should be afraid. When the owner is afraid of all those who can steal his grapes, he will do everything what he can do to save it. And, the grapes will be saved, thieves will not steal it. The point of this view of the proverb is that you have to be careful with yourt things. If you really love it, do whatever you can do to save it. If you just let it go, and let it be however it can be, you will lose it. Someone, who is more interested into having it, will take it from you.
Simple as that, want it, keep it, if you do not keep it, that means that you are not interested enough into it. You do not love it enough, it is not important to you.
If you love it, then give your best to keep it. Take it and do not let it go. Never let it go, never let anyone take it from you.
Fear is okay. It is okay to be afraid to lose what you love. That fear will help you, it will cause you some feelings, some instincts that will help you to save what you have and what you want to have in the future.
So, love, keep and be afraid to lose what you have.
We can also think that those potential thieives should be afraid. If someone, out there wants to have something what is yours, he may try to get it from you. But, if that person is afraid of you, he will not even try. Here in Serbia we say 'show your teeth', show to others that you can be dangerous, when sometihng yours is about to be taken from you. Show that you are ready to fight what you love. Show that when something is important you arte there to fight, to give your best and to keep it.
Also, we have to know that there are other people, who have something what we would love to have. That means that we can be those thieves. But, we need to be careful, because other people are also ready to fight in order to keep things that they love. That is normal.
Those fears are connected. Those who have it are afraid to lose it, and those who want it may be afraid to lose it.
Those who have it are afraid of those who want it, and those who want it are afraid of those who already own it.
In this article I was talking about grapes, but those grapes can be whatever in real life. For example loved one, dream job, project, chance...
Whatever.
You love him or her? Fight to keep it./Fight to get it.
You want that job? Fight to keep it./Fight to get it.
Of course, do not steal something for real. Do not pass the border. There always have to be a border. Line, that you will never cross. Everything has a price, but do not sell your tenets ever!
In life, you always have to fight to get what you want, and then save it.
