New Normal of Schools. What makes it so hard for me, and others?
At the start of the pandemic, all schools stopped its school year... And it took almost 5 months to find a way to give education to all students without physical contact. And one of the solution that is applicable to me, modules!
Small booklets that gives students the insights of the lessons, as well as some activities to do, and it's very helpful to those who doesn't have a stable internet for online class.
But, I think, this isn't the "best" option, especially in some situations or conditions...
Advantages and Disadvantages
Most of provincial schools like I'm in are focused more on modules, as they act as a lesson plan, but for students to study and answer. But what are its advantages and disadvantages?
Advantages
It can give students a lesson for every subjects.
It can minimise the risk of the virus, as they can do answer or study at home, without going to school.
It can give students a better insight for upcoming tests or lessons.
Students can take pictures to have more convenience
Disadvantages
What things that don't have any disadvantages? There's some disadvantages that I actually experienced when this distance learning became the new normal for schools.
No teachers to teach furthermore, which makes some complicated lessons more complicated for students, unless they had Internet for YouTube videos
If parents didn't learned about a lesson in the modules, it gets more complicated for the student to understand.
It might be written by other students who used the modules before, making it more dirty
Answer key may be present, resulting on a student copying the entire answer key, and the student might get low scores if the answer key is incorrect
Pupils might not answer their modules without parents looking for them.
All of them might be present for some, and others don't.
It can be easily be solved with a group chat for the class and their teacher/s. Having an online class for some time will also do, like I have experienced when I was Grade 8.
Online Class
Comparison
I experienced online class once when my Research Teacher to have an online consultation and class on Zoom.
Advantages
Students and teacher can communicate to each other
Students can understand more because of the teacher
Teachers can monitor students when their participating
Disadvantages
Teachers might not able to know what are the students looking aside from the class meeting
As Philippines has slow internet, students and/or teachers will have lags in their class, or disconnection
Less students can participate in this mode of class
Expensive if students have to allocate data allocation of their own
How This Is Much More Different Than Old Times
If not online class, then this might be the less interactive way to learn with your classmates. Complicated lessons will be more complicated. And unlike with teachers/subject teachers teaching us to understand more, the students had to learn it from themselves, like I always do on some lessons.
It's more hard than hearing the announcement about this type of new normal.
This week's modules I had, was not the best. Very complicated, especially in Science. Good thing father knows some.
I heard that some school are actually now trying to have face-to-face classes once or twice a week, then the rest are modular classes/doing modules.
But I think it's open for vaccinated students, in which I didn't get vaxxed for some reasons.
But, what will be the solution, the best one, to actually give more students a safe way to learn while not trying to understand a complicated lessons themselves?..

It's a good thing we have blended type of classes here in my kids's school. A combination of modular and online classes, it's like the normal classes but done through google meet, where students and teacher can interact.
