Making some music NFT? Day 3. (Day 2). https://read.cash/@SolarPhasing/in-the-process-of-9569b1e5 I wanted to mention that I really enjoy the night mode! I set it wherever I can. By day and by night. I've been waiting for it. Thanks to the developers for finally including it on ReadCash! I remember suggesting it a long time ago and getting a reply saying: "*technically, given the technology used to develop ReadCash, it would not be easy to implement. And that they would see in the future*". Well done guys! There are still some small bugs here and there, especially on the page where you moderate the articles of the different communities. No doubt that it will be corrected quickly! **NFTs are on the rise!** They are popping up all over the place on different cryptocurrencies or platforms. NFTs are the hype of the moment! They are talked about everywhere on the online press, social networks, etc.. I didn't take this new trend very seriously when it started to emerge. But I must admit that I am very interested in the concept from an artistic point of view, as an artist. I might consider creating a single track, or an alternative mix of a composition. **A single copy of the track or remix. Published as a Non Fungible Token**. I like this concept a lot! The buyer would be the only one to own the track. A real added value! For both parties! We can also imagine an original series limited to x copies. **A Musical Interlude..** A song played live this last summer on june with my Band **Alchemic Journey**. A cool trip into Progressive Rock. It was our the first gig of the summer 2021. A great one! And quite frankly, I got into the game immediately. The first thing to know is that many creators on Atomic Hub give away their creations for free or at a very low price. You can also find many Airdrops on social media. On the site, if you set a price filter on a search, for example let's set the price not to exceed 0.01 WAX, you will be able to target new NFTs coming in for free or not exceeding the set threshold. With flair you could very well acquire small future nuggets. To resell them with a good value.. or not. The lower the number of copies, the higher the value of the NFT. Theme packs are also a good start to make some profit. Supply and demand can change quickly, so be careful to potential benefits. While having fun, I quickly multiplied my investment by 10. Or maybe you really like one, and you will pay the price. Of course, if you are an artist, you are also free to create your own NFTs and go for it. Check out the FAQ and the well-designed tutorials, especially on how to create templates. And on Bitcoin Cash?** I would like to be able to create NFTs easily with Bitcoin Cash through SLP, for example. When I say easily, I mean to have a platform or system that would allow to publish them easily, a simple system to use. A few months ago, I had quickly skimmed over the thing to realize that you had to read a lot of tutorials to already understand how to proceed, go through Github, etc.. Things that are not within the reach of everyone. Quite technical even. **Have things changed lately regarding the possibility of creating NFTs with Bitcoin Cash?** I sincerely hope so. **If you have any leads, I would be very interested**. In the process.. of. Day 2. In English, which is still the most widely used language in the world, I do quite well in reading and writing. I also have no trouble making myself understood orally, but I must admit that the idea of having to give a conference, a speech, or even an interview in English makes me nervous in advance. Haha ha. I write my blog posts in French, not systematically, but more and more often, for the quality. Then, I reread the translation of the finalized article several times. To check that everything is ok. You always have to do it, do it several times, meticulously, because there are things that take on a completely different meaning otherwise. A word that doesn't fit the context of your sentence, for example. And so. I've always used Google Translate. And then one day, for privacy reasons, I wondered about a possible alternative, and I discovered **DeepL**. You can use it online, but there is also a really handy application. It avoids giving more and more to the Google octopus, while guaranteeing you a quality work. Really, try it! Today, on this huge web that is the internet, as we visit and do things, we are all victims of data harvesters. They compile all our facts and gestures in order to draw up profiles, often for commercial purposes, but also for other reasons, probably much more obscure. Yesterday I was really happy to come back and sit here again to write a blog post. I'll try to do it regularly. It had been 6 months since I wrote anything. I mostly talk about music, so maybe it's an extra challenge to try to write an article that will capture the listener. I've met some great people here, some really interesting, nice people. Really! Some of them like my music, created playlists, on Soundcloud for example, bought my albums, or some of my tracks, participated to my last crowdfunding campaign, it's very rewarding! I learned a lot from them, too. Mainly on BCH. They publish interesting stuff. Life is an eternal learning. Thanks to them for their great support! Thank you very much! Yep! :0) **In the process.. of.** (Oh ok, here we are). I spent the day listening to all the material for the upcoming album which will be called "**Electronic Patterns**". Some tracks are finalized, others are at a very advanced stage, and then there are all these raw ideas to explore, to develop. At least, counting the different demos of the same track, the specific extracts of some passages or transitions, there are 45 "tracks" in my playlist. I use Winamp for that, to listen this mess, it remains my favorite. This is the first time I have so much raw material. I hope this album will be up to the task. It should. This is the most ambitious project I've done under **Solar Phasing**. I listen and take a lot of notes. Taking notes makes the process easier because you can forget a good idea very quickly. "Separate the wheat from the chaff" (a french proverb), in the end.. and finally be able to refine, and finalize. I think I'll spend a good part of the day again tomorrow. Before attacking the rest, piece by piece. Motivation and inspiration seem to be in the air. I've organized a kind of "ritual" to write these new blog posts. I wait after midnight, the tranquility, and I settle down with some good music, some good tea, a few essential oils in the diffuser, a subdued light.. and let the inspiration come to me through thoughts and words. The key is within us. The key to everything. Hello to all of you! I'm probably back! :0) I was not far away, since I regularly validate the articles of the communities I manage. That said, it's a lot of work... to check these pending articles. Many of them go by the wayside, because they are not at all on topic, or the "writer" publishes 10 a day. One after the other. Like a bulimia.. On Read.Cash, you have always had to be patient and prove yourself before you start to be rewarded. Kind of like everywhere else. So, spamming 10 articles a day is not a very good start. I came here at the beginning of the adventure, first out of curiosity, but also because the site was sober, functional, ergonomic, fast, and so easy to use. Right away! At that time, there were maybe 10 to 20 articles per day, sometimes much more less. Most of them were of high quality. It was motivating to start blogging regularly. Things just happened naturally. Anyway, here it is. I am back with the desire to write. Regarding my musical projects, I probably won't get into the heart of the matter in this blog post. This "pandemic health crisis" has affected us all in one way or another. With ups and downs. But mostly a daily pressure of information that tries to wring out your brain. It is often difficult to remain objective in front of the contradictions that follow one another in a loop. As always, I repeat: "Think by yourself, otherwise others will do it for you!" A single version of things that one would take at face value is not enough to form an enlightened opinion. I have not been inactive, far from it, since this past year 2021 has been one of the most prolific in terms of the work I have been able to do on my different musical projects. For those who would discover me through this article, I am Solar Phasing, a composer and producer of electronic and orchestral music living in France. I also compose and write lyrics for a french progressive rock band called Alchemic Journey. I am the guitarist and coordinator. We could write about this passing time, at length. Despite the fact that I am still very busy with my musical projects, whether it is with **Solar Phasing** or **Alchemic Journey**. I'm taking time. Again.. I'm reading a lot again these last weeks. Science fiction mostly.. but not only. The discovery of "**Hyperion**" kept me in suspense until the last line. It's not an easy book to read at first, but the universe that sets up from this first volume is fascinating. Without spoilers I can tell you that the story starts only after a little less than 500 pages of reading. Volume 1 & 2. I bought all this serie by Dan Simmons. Quite an adventure, we play live on July 16th, 17th and 22nd with **Alchemic Journey**. And the weather forecast is for rain. We'll see what fate has in store for us. We've been through the raindrops every time so far. One of our partners has left us for new musical adventures. Marco (Marc Gorand), guitarist and keyboard playing with us for 4 years, announced his departure from the band. With immediate effect! No conflict, just choices to be made at some point. It's an announcement that obviously surprised us, the day after our first concert of the season, an epic one, and since the second confinement. A year almost (9 months) without playing in public. Already committed to 7 dates for this summer, we had to review some of the arrangements very quickly. We have a new musician, Muriel, who will join us on stage to perform 5 pieces of our repertoire of our compositions on Keyboards. On July 16th, 17th. We hope that she will stay and play with us for a while. She is very excited about the idea, but has not made up her mind yet. This concert experience should decide her.. or not. That said, the color of the songs with her is already very promising. The French government went crazy this July 12, 2021. Imposing the vaccine. As a guitarist, how I approach the sound **As a guitarist, how I approach the sound?** Here is the chain of effects I currently use, both on stage and in rehearsal with the **Alchemic Journey** Band: https://www.facebook.com/AlchemicJourneyOfficial **My Mexican Fender Strat from 1995**. Red Color! We can consider it's a **Vintage Model** now! My second guitarist also lends me his in rehearsal and in concert too, a superb **Fender Stratocaster replica model 57**. But.. More about Guitars, next time.. **Here is my effects chain**: From the **Fender Stratocaster** Guitar (I use two that are totally different in pickup sound and tone range). I use the **Boss Blues Driver BD2** pedal as a first effect to boost the signal of the **Fender Deluxe** Tube Amp. Around 40/45% of Drive gain, sometimes even less. This allows me to have a sound going from a very warm Clear to a Crunchy, to a good Rock/Blues Overdrive. All this is managed by the volume of the guitar and the dynamics of the pick play. The second effect on the chain is an Overdrive pedal too, the **Screamin' Blues** one from **Digitech**, the boost for solos*, and some more saturated parts. Means the two Overdrive are "On"! The treble tone is at 0 (i.e. 7pm) and the bass tone at about 2am. Very important to get a warm and round overdrive with my sound configuration. Kind of Vintage sound for the two Overdrive pedals. Then I go to the **Modulations** pedal, a brilliant **Donner** Pedal with 7 different modulation types: Chorus (2 modes), Phaser, Tremolo, Vibrato, Flanger, etc.. I only use 2 or 3 of these: mainly the Flanger but only to give a deph, not a full Flanger sound.. and the Tremolo. I like the Tremolo on some specific parts. I also use the Vibrato effect to detune a little to give a small "space bubble effect" on one track. Playing Arpeggios. The Pedal is set of the manner I just have to select the right effect, and It's good! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bbLPW3uDa4c To the **Donner Delay** now, which I specifically use only on a few pieces, and judiciously. Very simple to adjust and effective. Good quality/price. And finally, I plug into a **Digitech Digital Reverb**, depending on the track I use different settings: Hall Short, Plate Short, Hall Long, etc. And I play with the level of reverberation depending on the track. Always very short reverb with the exception of one or two tracks, with a very long reflection reverb for the colour of the song. *Ok, I have one more, and in fact before all these.. It's a **Wah Behringer** Pedal, a very versatil Wah pedal. I use it as Wah, yes, but I mainly use it as a Treble Booster when I'm chorusing. This one is very important because just plugged in it , it give a special tone I have since years. It also allows me to control feedback perfectly! And I love that. :0) Then to the Tube Amp. The **Fender Deluxe** is set with a volume between 1 and 2 following the environment, if you push it more, you can bye bye to your ears! haha.. I will detail in another article the setup I use in Home Studio Works, based on Ik Multimedia Fender Amps. Sometimes used on stage too. In short, I like what is simple but effective. The multi-effects all integrated distort the dynamics of the sound quite a bit, in my opinion. **Do you play guitar too? The Music Fest: It's on June 21 ! Last year, with **Alchemic Journey**, it was already difficult to play for the **2020 music festival**, on June 21st. We had succeeded. Invited for a slot of about an hour and a half (previously 45 minutes) at "Aux Bonheurs Landais" in the "Pays de Gex" (Country of Gex) in Prévessin-Moëns town, on the Swiss border. Good feeling, good sound, good show! First date of the year, it was! We also ended the day with some great jamming with some great musicians friends. We like it when we can meet in this kind of moment. and share a lot of fun! https://read.cash/@SolarPhasing/the-june-21-2020-rock-gig-a500d3ac This year 2021 for the first gig of this season, we have a scheduled Rock Concert, still in the "Pays de Gex", this June 18, 2021. We played at Ornex at "**La Brasserie Gessienne**". It's where the well known **CERN** is. Swiss border, french side, near Geneva. A very nice evening, a very receptive audience, a very warm atmosphere. Received like princes! We tried to give everything! It was very hot! Hot! We play exclusively our music. A great Rock Concert! Probably one of the best we done.. We have to fight to be able to continue sharing these good moments, the culture. **People need to take a break, to relax!** One more time, it was not easy, governement saying: "*you can't play*", "*you can do it*", "*you can't play*", etc.. in a psychotic loop. A hallucinating disorganization. Still curfew until June 21 (previously June 30). We played until 10h30 AM. We take the risk to be arrested and ticketed. A fine of 135 euros per person! But what a gig!! :0) Freedom!! It was the American **Joel Cohen**, at the time a producer for **Radio France Musique**, who conceived the idea with his "Saturnales de la Musique". In October 1981, **Jack Lang**, the **French Minister of Culture**, appointed Maurice Fleuret as Director of Music and Dance. Maurice Fleuret applies his reflections on the musical practice and its evolution and lays the foundations of a new conception: "*The music will be everywhere and the concert nowhere!*". He evokes a "*revolution*" in the field of music, which tends to make meet all the musics (without hierarchy of genre nor of origin) in a common research of what he calls "*a sound liberation, an intoxication, a vertigo which are more authentic, more intimate, more eloquent than art*". In 1982, a major survey on the cultural practices of the French was carried out by the Ministry of Culture's studies and research department and revealed that five million people, including one young person in two, play a musical instrument, whereas the musical events organized up to now only concern a minority of French people. From this fact, Jack Lang, Christian Dupavillon, architect/scenographer, member of his Cabinet and Maurice Fleuret deduced that the landscape of the musical practice in France remains to be discovered. So they imagined a great popular event that would allow all musicians to express themselves and make themselves known. A brand new Soundcloud.. I remember a time when you could store your music on Soundcloud indefinitely without paying a cent. You just had a few limitations, but not very restrictive ones after all. And then unlimited storage became a pro subscription. The price seemed fair to me for the service. I paid $5 to be able to store all my tracks, and enjoy nice benefits. Replacing a track, highlighting it, having exhaustive statistics, etc.. Today, a pro membership is $16 a month. This rate is completely abusive. Unfair! 16x12 = $192 for one year, if you pay a monthly membership. You get a discount if you pay for a full year, but the price is still unjustified in my opinion. What are the alternatives? They are obviously on the music blockchain. **Audius** https://audius.co/solarphasing **Audius** said themselves that they were the "New Soundcloud" when it was launched just over a year ago. You can upload your tracks there in an unlimited way, public or private. In a private way, it's very important for me, because when I work on an album or a project, I like to upload different versions of the same composition and create playlists. Are fees killing the game? For today's blog, it's a bit of loose thinking. I sent some Bitcoin yesterday and the transaction fee seemed relatively acceptable, something like $5. It's not. But it is.. acceptable?! If you send $1000, it can be, but if you send $10, it's not. Think about it. If you're handling ETH or ERC-20 tokens, the prices are now around prohibition. The question I ask myself is: are these prices really justified, or have the miners found this a juicy way to fill their wallets? Technical people over here to answer it? DeFi, Uniswap and similar are great, but it's very expensive in terms of transaction fees. The explanation is probably here, the success of the DeFi. When you handle hundreds or thousands of dollars of cryptocurrencies you are willing to accept these exorbitant fees as long as they are deducted from your profits. These fees are part of the deal, shall we say. Try to have as few as possible. Minimise transactions. Think about them intelligently. But. The consequence of these very high fees is that they have jeopardized the survival of a multitude of people with really very modest incomes here and there in the world, often below the poverty line, for whom crypto-money was a kind of salvation. I think that many people who used to speculate on the ETH blockchain on sites like ForkDelta, etc., probably can no longer afford to do so, because of this increase in transaction costs. We all know how expensive life is, and how expensive it is becoming. Cryptocurrency is the future of financial independence. So of course when we handle our Bitcoin Cash, it's paradise, with transaction fees usually near $0.01. The Tron network has even lower transaction fees. EOS does not, altogether. Even though you need CPU and Ram to be able to execute transactions. We still have a lot of work to do, friends, in order to democratize crypto-money, and especially Bitcoin Cash. We need to make things more accessible. Keep spreading the good word. I think that sites like Read.Cash, now Noise.Cash, and Memo.Cash have contributed, and are contributing, to greater Bitcoin Cash adoption. To conclude, regardless of the cryptocurrency, I think that for massive democratisation, transaction fee prices must be low. This is obvious! I made some Bitcoin Cash traductions (official videos, and another things), here and there, helping the community. And "Spread Da word" everywhere! Mainly on Twitter. I love Bitcoin Cash. But I'm not "sectarist" neither, haha. ;0) Joking, right! :0) There were some periods that some might call "lean periods", like a desert crossing, without tips. I have seen some artists leave, discouraged. I stayed, faithful, loyal. Even after being blocked by the owner of the place because I wanted a little more clarity on the homepage, in order to discover quality content. The very strong wave of spam, remember.
