I always thought this photo was Photoshop.Somehow my grass was too green and the sky too blue. And then I learned an amazing story.
Charles O’Rear was born in 1941 and worked as a photographer for National Geographic magazine for more than 25 years. Since 1978, his interest has been focused on viticulture and wine production, so he has taken photographs on this topic around the world. He did not take his most famous photo during the planned shooting, but quite by accident. While driving on Highway 121 in California, Charles decided to get off the road and photograph a scene he often thought about.A few years later, Microsoft paid him a hefty sum for this photo, but O’Rear never revealed what the figure was. The photography is as it is thanks to the combination of Fuji film, with enhanced colors and the excellent optics of the camera that O’Rear used at the time.He could not determine the price of the photo himself, so Microsoft sent him a plane ticket to come to the headquarters to negotiate.
The photo has been displayed on the XP system since 2001, and has been viewed by more than a billion people every day.For many years there has been controversy about the place where this photo was taken - Ireland, France and New Zealand represented possible locations,Microsoft has revealed a secret kept on YouTube for years.
The landscape of green meadows, blue skies and only a few clouds is actually located in California, in Napa County.
"It was filmed near my house, while I was visiting a girl, north of San Francisco. The day was just like that. The photo was not edited in Photoshop. The grass was perfect and the sun was shining. "There were no clouds in the sky, but as I parked and set up the camera, clouds appeared," O'Rear said.
Later, the famous place where the photograph was taken was turned into a vineyard, and the photograph, which was taken after more than a decade in the same place where it was taken, shows a completely different scene.
The author of the most famous Windows XP photo has done a series of photos for smartphones.
