Republic Day
Today India celebrated it's 73rd Republic Day. Here, Republic Day falls on 26th January. Though India gained its independence from the British in the year 1947, the Indian constitution declaring independent India came jnto effect on January 26, 1950. This day is declared as a national holiday for all schools, colleges , establishment and other government sectors.
Various celebrations are held in different parts of the states of India with great pomp. The most amazing part of the celebration takes place in "The India Gate" in New Delhi in the presence of the President of India. There will be a guest of honour from another country, along with the President. It begins in the early hours of the day by the President of India hoisting our national Flag. The celebration begins with the annual parade. And more attractive and momentous displays by the Indian Airforce, Indian Army and India Navy. Bravery awards are also given to some of the children who had shown heroism in any encounter. Martyrs are being honored on this special day. High civilian awards are given to eligible persons to honour them for their contribution towards the nation.
The Indian Airforce displays colourful display in the air while the Indian Army comes out with its new collection of tanks. After the parade by the Defence personnel comes the heritage display of each state in a man made moving cart, depicting their culture. Then arrives the cultural procession by the dancers from various states which is so colourful.
Usually, in schools a one hour display by students, flag hoisting by the chief guest and distribution of sweets also take place.
