Recently we made a short trip to Venice. Hold on.....not in Italy, but the Venice of Alappuzha which is situated in the south of Kerala, India . It is called so because once it was one of the main trade center. The place is famous for house boat cruises which travels along side the rustic kerala backwaters. Every year boat races take place in this rustic water.
This city is also called as city of Venice. It is called so, because years before the transportation started, export of spices, coffee, tea etc. to other countries were made enroute through this sea. This place attracts more tourists from other countries. These are some of the photos captured while enjoying the boat journey.
House Boats are the main attractions here. It is much economical with food on board. You have an amazing stay in boat. Some people's do the bookings for a day while some of them do it for two nights in water. The landscape here is just excellent. To a certain extent we come across houses on both the side. Some houses are on top supported by thick wood below.
A house boat with tourists was just passing by. As per the covid protocol all the boats are open for tourists. Actually for past one year it was closed down.
This is a view taken from behind the boat we were travelling. It was 4.30 pm. and all the boats were getting back to the start point with it's tourist on board. It was such a wonderful view.
This is a small island amidst the raging sea. Here we had a halt for 1 hr. It was like a dense forest. It was told to us that years before there were few people living here but the government has to evacuate them due to lack of electricity.
A row boat seen amidst the sea.
The trip was not tiresome as we had a wonderful time. Hope you all a wonderful weekend. Lead image was also captured when we are returning back to our destination.
