The lockdown

The first time I heard the word "lockdown" was in the year 2020, it was in a movie, a series actually, Blindspot. The head office of the FBI was under cyber attack and the only way they could find the person who initiated the attack we if they has a building lockdown which they did and eventually failed. So when I heard the government said they wanted to initiate a lockdown to curb the spread of covid-19, I could just but wonder how that wanted to work in Nigeria.

Everything here is said based on my personal knowledge and shouldn't be quoted out of context

Factors that made the government initiate the lockdown:

  1. Breaking the covid-19 protocols

The Covid-19 came in without notice, no one was prepared and we were all caught off guard, a number of directives them came from the World Health Organization on how to prevent the virus from spreading around the country, we were asked to wash our hands for atleast 20 seconds with running water frequently, always wear a nose mask whenever we are leaving our houses, maintain social distance of atleast 2m between two people having a discussion. All these protocols seemed easy when they were first implemented but as time passed, we started seeing the true color of how things played out, people were tired of wearing nose masks maybe because it made respiration a little bit difficult and that was understandable for old people and asthma patients. We also noticed crowding at religious centers, markets, parks, schools and other places. People got out of control and tired because everything seemed like a lie but they were really true because isolation centers were getting filled up exponentially, hand sanitizers became a problem for people to afford as their prices spiked, it was really a mess, so the government had to move their next piece

  1. The END SARS protest

One of the greatest events in the history of Nigeria happened around this time of the year also, Nigerian youths for once in a lifetime came out to fight for their rights against police brutality and other illegal behaviors by some of our leaders, the spread of the protest around the country was like that of a wild fire, almost all the states of the country were involved in this protest which later led to a lot of chaos and trouble which involved the looting of palliatives, I'd call this very unfortunate but at the same time, it was what made us happy at home, the drama was top notch, a lot of secret locations where palliatives were being kept illegally were exposed and looted my "hoodlums". Another word I learnt during the lockdown 😊😂. I remember when this hoodlums attacked TVC, it was on a live show of "your view", a program I grew interest in when I was at home, these people came into the TV station and spoilt a lot of things and finally burnt the station down, I was really pained as we were unable to watch TVC for a few days before they came back to broadcast from their station at Abuja but they weren't the same again. A whole lot of incidents unfolded during that period just to mention a few.

3. Refusal of approval of vaccine

After this virus started to kill too many people, our scientists had to come up with a solution and the only way they could do that was to make a vaccine since it wasn't responding to drugs. A lot of funds was pumped into the area of research and science in order to make the vaccine or cure, individual counties tried their best, I even remember a country threatening to pull out of WHO because she taught she had found the cure but it later failed, after long days and nights of research, some Organizations could come up with vaccines even though we heard that they were still being tested, reports also claimed that people were reacting to the vaccine in a very weird manner like barking like a god and so on. This really discouraged us from taking the vaccine, nobody wants to die and since people weren't taking the vaccine, the government has to impose a lockdown...

The lockdown has really taught me a whole lot of lessons, the good and the bad one but of all that I gained from this lockdown was TIME MANAGEMENT

Thanks for reading 😊❤️

Let's engage and do the needful ❤️

I am also against RNA-based vaccines. It's not safe enough. According to experts, serious side effects can occur in human tests.
