4 AM Thursday morning and all is---well, not well, but it could be worse. At least I don't live in California. There is such a vast difference in the 'cost of living' between southern Illinois and California that it is almost another world entirely. I make do paying all my bills etc on a bit under $1200 a month in Illinois, while in California I'd be lucky to afford a full month's rent on a place---and that is without paying the utilities and food and other assorted things needed to survive. The first time I noticed it was back in 2010 after my Mom died and we sold her house for $67,000---talking to friends in California, it would have gone for around $240,000 out there at the time. I noticed it again yesterday when I mentioned gas being $4.39 a gallon where I live---out in California it is quite a bit more as the photo a friend sent me shows. Guess I'm glad I never did make it out there like I had planned to in my younger days...

You seem to have made the right decision. Nevertheless, I would be happy with the Californian prices for fuel.

Yes, it really is becoming unbearable. This is going to have to be a very, very frugal summer.
You know what innour place the price of the gas was quit too much and pricey and every week it went up thats why motorist are so much being affected.
In Indonesia, some basic necessities also increase in price, for gasoline the price is $1 per liter.

as my friend would always say, they are paying for the weather in california.. the price of gas is almost the same here.. i think it is worldwide gas price hike
The cost of living in California always floors me, and makes me wonder except for the nice weather why anyone would actually want to live there. Yesterday on my way home from work gas at the Casey's by my house was $4.99. It was $4.59 the day before.
Ya know, I don't have a bit of sympathy for the folks in California. They have been voting in crazy socialists for years, and are slowly succeeding in destroying what should be one of the world's strongest economies. The problem is when, once California is ruined, they move and bring their California style behavior with them to wherever they move to!
