FINALLY! I've been anticipating my crocus starting to bloom. First color of the season.

Well, only took 8 days for the new washing machine to move in with me. Sure, it wasn't cheap, but it was cheaper than getting a new wife to do my laundry.
Male (red) and female (brown) cardinals enjoying a snack in the front yard out at the Squirrel Tree. I get a lot of these here, usually they show up in pairs like this.
"Cats on cracknip" Emoci is three years old this spring, but sometimes her inner kitten comes out in full force like it did earlier this morning. She's pretty determined to catch that tail some day...it can't get away forever. ☺ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2cMcIh83bM8 #Cats
Stupid war. Stupid economy. Stupid world. Just stupid. As far as the eye can see. So stupid my head hurts.
Wednesday morning jazz, trying to relax after letting the world in general get me all heated up and argumentative again. Me and this particular album go back to my very first memories of music as a wee small Ratcliffe. I was released in 1960, this album released in 1959. Lambert, Hendricks & Ross! – The Hottest New Group In Jazz (1959) Side One - 1. "Charleston Alley" 2. "Moanin'" 3. "Twisted" 4. "Bijou" 5. "Cloudburst" Side Two - 1. "Centerpiece" 2. "Gimme That Wine" 3.…
4 AM Thursday morning and all is---well, not well, but it could be worse. At least I don't live in California. There is such a vast difference in the 'cost of living' between southern Illinois and California that it is almost another world entirely. I make do paying all my bills etc on a bit under $1200 a month in Illinois, while in California I'd be lucky to afford a full month's rent on a place---and that is without paying the utilities and food and other assorted things…
♪♫ La di da di dee, la di da di dah ♫♪ I really did NOT mean to smoke that marijuana yet (after all it is only 4:20 AM) but I was sitting there on the couch getting ready to watch some TV and I leaned forward to get the remote off of the coughee table only I grabbed the bong instead and took a hit before I realized that was not what I was going to do and once done can't be undone and now I'm hungry - again. Yes, I accidentally smoked some marijuana. ☺ I did not MEAN to. It…
My adenoid or hemorrhoid or whatever the hell it is was acting up. Don't recall anything like this with my old land-line. Guess to prevent the latest cracker or snacker or whatever those criminal interweb people are called. I dunno. Remember when things used to be built good enough the first time so they didn't need fancy additions?
-9 °C/16 °F And it'll be below freezing for about another 36 hours or so. Really I should just go back to bed until Spring begins. lol Meanwhile, I have to report to the local courthouse at 8:30 AM Monday where I am being summoned for jury duty - at which point I will be told that due to my criminal history I will be excused from serving as a jurist. But for some inexplicable reason, they cannot seem to do this over the phone. Instead, I MUST appear in court for it or a…
Not that I ever do much road traveling, but a friend gave me a dashboard cam today so I guess maybe some day it will get used. Right now I don't have any major trips planned until August 26 when I am doing a 300 mile/482 km round-trip to go see Sammy Hagar in concert over in St Louis Missouri.
Well, in about 5 hours I have to report to the courthouse for jury duty. I really hope they ask something stupid, like "Is there any reason you feel you would not make a good jurist?" Seriously. Just give me that opening and I will unload both barrels - while remaining calm and composed the entire time. "Honestly, I can't decide what this is. I haven't been arrested for a long time, I don't participate in illegalities these days, I thought you would be done hauling me up…
I might have to start selling some of my albums - not that I need the money, but several of them have gained quite a bit of value since I purchased them. I have at least ten that will sell for around $150.00 each, and several that will bring 2-3 times what I paid for them. I hadn't really been watching, but I noticed one I bought a few years ago for $30 was now going for around $175 used. That pricked my curiousity, so I started checking on a few, and I have a nice tidy sum…
Looking a bit moony outside this morning at 5:00 A.M. I opened the front door to let Scar (my black tomcat) out - he was getting pretty loud about his insistence that he needed to go THERE and he was stuck in HERE and would I get up out of my chair RIGHT MEOW and let him out - and there was the moon staring me right in the face, almost begging me to capture it. So I did. But I'm not really sure about the proper care and feeding of moons, so I ended up letting it go free…
So @noise.cash (Talking head of noise.cash and read.cash) hasn't made a Noise for the past 5 months, hasn't made a reply or a re-noise in the last two months, and hasn't been online on the site for the last week. I wonder what happened? They were quite active when I first joined in April last year, and then... #Noise.cash #Moderator #Admin
Flower power!!! Not much happening here yet, my small crocuses bloomed a bit over a week ago and now my daffodils are beginning to bloom. I've finally arranged for someone to come down to the house, pick up the riding mower, and take it to wok on it. Dang thing is only maybe 4 years old (I believe this would be its 5th summer) and it does not want to run - or rather it does not want to KEEP running. It starts fine, a minute later acts like it's out of gas. 30 seconds later,…
Last night, I did something I hadn't done in the past 25 years or so - listened to music on FM radio for a few hours while I was on the computer. Call it 'music for lazy people'. Don't have to take a break from the computer in the middle of a sentence to flip the album over or spend 5-10 minutes trying to decide what to play next. So this morning (it is currently 5:30 AM where I am at) I thought I'd turn it on and listen. And was reminded why I stopped listening to radio in…
I hope this trend keeps up---gasoline prices have fallen a total of 25 cents a gallon since hitting its all-time high here a few weeks ago. Of course, the price is not falling as fast as it went up, but at least it is falling. It is still 75 cents a gallon higher than it was the last time I filled the tank, but since I (normally) don't leave the house to drive anywhere other than out to Walmart (which is only a 5 mile round-trip) I don't use a whole lot of gas (it was $3.39…
Got laundry in the dryer and a pair of meat loafs in the oven---I decided to make one and somewhere along the way it became two. I'd make someone a pretty good wife, but I won't shave my legs or my armpits. lol Oh, and I snore. And I keep odd hours. And I shoot people that awaken me unnecessarily. And I don't want to live with someone else. Me and the kitties have pretty much got our routines down pat---down pat enough that if I don't start getting ready for bed on time it…
There's just something about violence inspired raging rock 'n roll at 6 in the morning that just feels so RIGHT some days. Have the first Rage Against The Machine release cranked up right now. I've been quietly perusing through several 'social' sites for about 4 hours---just one of those days where I don't have much to say. Sometimes I just sit back and watch everyone else. You can learn a lot about people when they do not know you are there.
Three-quarters of the band Muddy Creek & Co - left to right: Parker Fyffe - Bass guitar Wes Marvel - Lead guitar Steve Ratcliffe - Percussion I hung out with them for a few hours this morning and got an exclusive listen to their forthcoming 10-song release 'In Front of God and Nobody' scheduled for March 25th on all streaming platforms.
Well---that was a pleasant surprise in the middle of an already pleasant day. No. I am not being sarcastic, believe it or not. Meanwhile, some people that know me well are waiting for the set-up and the punch line. But there isn't one. Other people that know me well are saying "WHAT HAVE YOU DONE WITH MICHAEL??? WHERE IS OUR BELOVED GROUCH???" Sorry folks---I'm right here, being---well---nice. I really enjoyed the hell out of hanging with my brother's band this morning---and…
So today would have been my late father's birthday (he passed away in June of last year) and, of course, the usual facebook fuckery has people leaving him 'Happy Birthday' messages on his profile. 50% of these people have no real idea about his life, the other 50% evidently don't realize people stop having 'Happy' birthdays (or really any other kind) when they are dead. But I have always said most people are stupid.
I tried writing a story but I didn't get very far with it.
Saturday afternoon tunes. Have the Marantz opened to about 40% rated power and Live's 'Secret Samadhi' album spinning on the 'table. Songs such as 'Ghost', with the low frequency harmonics rolling between the walls of the house, really push this album to its proper position as a recording technician's wet dream. I live alone, all the kitties are outside, time to turn it up for a bit. #VinylJunkies
I think I'm gonna try to get a job at a tabloid writing headlines. Doesn't look like a very hard job. Just have to learn to use your words. Unlike Will Smith. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=myjEoDypUD8
Damn gator in the house. Emoci loves instigating things. Doesn't matter if it is Scar (black cat shown) or my other tomcat Petey, 'moci will come up and just start STARING at them with a look of intense concentration. If that doesn't work, after a few minutes she'll reach out and SLAP the other cat. Just plain starting things just for the sake of starting things (and then crying if Scar starts whupping that ass). #cats
I can't decide if I am making Chick'n Thing or Chick'n Stuff but it has chicken 'n things 'n stuff in it. I'm just throwing chicken things together (chicken soup mix, chicken fettuccine noodles, 2 packs of chicken ramen noodles, other noodles) and a can of condensed cream o' chicken soup (family size) and some actual chicken and onions and salt and pepper and jalapenos and mushrooms and seeing what it turns into. But it'll be either Chick'n Stuff or Chick'n Thing.
Dammit. I've sat here for 10 minutes trying to think of some words of wisdom to help guide you through your day, and all I can come up with is 'I have coughee'. May chance perhaps upon drinking more of it the fog will clear from my mind...until then, you are on your own, people...
So my 6 siblings have signed and returned to our lawyer notarized copies of quitclaim deeds to the house I live in and the property upon which it sits, granting me sole ownership of that which was in my father's name before he died this past June (2021) without leaving a will. While I had been 95% sure this was going to happen, it is a load of off my mind for it to finally occur. Of course this means I am now responsible for the property taxes and insurance + upkeep of the…
I love getting charged a 'technology fee'. Went to pay the water bill on the house this morning and get the service changed from my Dad's name to mine. I had assumed they would just transfer the $125 deposit on the service from his account to mine, but no---they want to send a dead man a check. >.< So I put the deposit on my credit card and also had them set the account up for automatic payment from my bank---which added a $5.78 'technology fee' to the total amount. But it…
You know who REALLY likes rotisserie chicken? Well, besides Scar? The people that make paper towels/napkins. Me 'n a chicken are a few good meals but I go through a lot of finger and lip wiping. https://www.mylot.com/post/3503184/i-love-how-walmart-ties-the-legs-of-the-chickens-so-they-cant-run-away
I have meat loafing about in the oven. I know @Porwest , you think I should leave out the hoppalenos, but no can do. Spent most of the first half of the day debating with myself how to build it, gathered materials, and then threw the entire plan out the window and did it a different way. Because that is how real cooking happens. #realmen #realcooking #reallife #really
