When you have this many vinyl records, you have to file them in some type of order (I use alphabetical) or it can take forever to find the one you want to listen to. Unfortunately, occasionally I will mis-file a release and have to start looking in places I may have alternately filed it. Which is what happened when I decided to listen to the Paul McCartney & Wings release 'Band On The Run'. I looked under P---right next to my other Paul McCartney album 'Ram'---and it was not…

Tried several shots and couldn't get one I was real happy with. Went in to get a different camera, came back out and it was gone so this was the best I got. Now if only hummingbirds would come to the hummingbird feeders...

Some mornings I simply forget to turn my phone on until I have been awake for 3-4 hours. And this is a good thing. It means I am not tied to it by a leash, that my life is not controlled by my phone. I don't panic when I leave my phone at home, and normally I do not take it with me. But I am one of a dwindling number of people that still use a phone simply as a telephone. Some day, in the not-too-distant future, everyone alive will have been born after the creation of the…

The only type of opossum in the United States is the Virginia Opossum. I have a few in the neighborhood, but they are most normally a shy creature that runs away rather than stop and pose for a photography session. These shots are taken from my archives of an opossum on a tree branch in my front yard June 2nd, 2018. It almost looks as if it is smiling for the camera. "Here, this is my best side." @Scarred4Lyfe

The drummer for local area band Smoke Rings dropped by my house yesterday to bring me a vinyl copy of his band's release from last year, 'Modern Days'. As a bonus, he gave me a CD of their latest release 'California Gold' (it won't be available on vinyl for about a year, there is a terrible backlog - even for major artists - at pressing plants worldwide because there just aren't that many as there used to be). As a BONUS bonus - it ain't California Gold, it was locally…

6:27 AM Central time USA June 5th 2022 Olney Illinois Snagging a photo of the living room sound system this morning made me realize the clock was 5 minutes fast so I just reset it to the correct time. And I believe I will begin today's music-fest with the 1977 release from the group Pink Floyd, 'Animals'. #PinkFloyd #VinylJunkie #VinylJunkies

10:30 AM Sunday June 5, 2022 Olney Illinois USA Close-up (zoom, not macro) of a chipmunk hiding from Petey and Scar this morning. Neither of the boys acted like they were trying to kill it, and when it would stay motionless they would leave it alone---for the most part. But after a few minutes, one would walk over and check things out...and as soon as a paw touched it the chase was back on. I tried telling the thing it needed to go THE OTHER direction a few times, but it…

Real life. Real conversations. Spammer/Telemarketer: "And how are you today?" Me: "I'm sitting in the bathroom with my pants around my ankles and my **** in my hand, how are you?" Spammer/Telemarketer: "Fine sir thank you for asking, the reason for my call is..." Un. Bee. Lievable. Guy didn't stutter or stammer, which makes me wonder if he actually understood me or not. Noon o'clock in the middle of the USA, hope y'all are well.

Quiet sunny afternoon here in the middle of the ol' U to the S of the A. His Lordship, Ruler of the Universe, the Evil Demon Spawn Scar relaxes on His front porch surveying His domain. Life is good. #cats

Prepping buds to smoke in my bong. That grinder is possibly the best $13 investment I have ever made. Also makes perfect weed for rolling joints.

@Scarred4Lyfe

Thunderstorms this morning leaving the neighborhood wet and hazy with rain. I had one Ka-BOOM! earlier that I fully expected to hear a tree come down, but it must not have struck as close as it seemed. Rattled the walls and ceiling pretty good. No animals in the front yard this morning as the Squirrel Tree stands its lonely guard. 9:33 A.M. Central USA June 8, 2022 Olney, Illinois

*puts on grumpy pants* Howdy y'all. Early mornin' here, just going on 6 AM in the great American states of the United States of American. God save the Queen. There, that's enough Patriotism for one day. ☺ Partly cloudy skies this morning, 14 °C/57 °F pick yer poison with a high around 27 °C/81 °F expected but skies should be clearing this morning so simply waiting for some sun. Meanwhile, mock battles in the front yard as Scar and Emoci get in some play time. P.S. - Anyone…

Albino squirrel stretched out relaxing in the heat. On hot days you can find squirrels laying their bellies on the tree limbs trying to cool off.

Fried taters 'n onions. Mmmm hmmm. Emmer good fer lunch. Takes a bit o' time on the cookin' side to do 'em right, but they are a fine fine thing once done. But I always make too much and I hate to throw food away so I'm fat. I need to get a girlfriend or a dog to help me eat. A dog would be cheaper, but Scar probably wouldn't like that. Of course, he might not care for me having a girlfriend either.

@Scarred4Lyfe

A Carpenter bee. The males do not possess a stinger, and while the females can sting they usually don't unless provoked. Being as I cannot tell which are males and which are females, I try not to provoke them. lol

@Scarred4Lyfe

For those that might have a few minutes to kill, the YouTube link is of me and several of the many spam phone calls I got yesterday (my phone says I received 19 total, 10 are in the video). Yesterday I had decided every time someone said 'Hello" I was going to say "Hi this is Mike with Medicare Health Services, how are you today?" and see what the reaction would be. A few of the calls ended up a bit fun. #spam #telemarketing https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y7dJF5AU9QU

7:45 A.M. Sunday morning June 12, 2022 Olney, Illinois USA Just playing in the front yard with a Canon Rebel R6, a 75-300mm zoom lens, and an extension (macro) tube. I thought the bird (female house finch) was taking off as I got that shot, but it was re-balancing itself on the perch. Flower is a macro-zoom of a day lily and the red eyed Devil Squirrel is probably after my soul...

@Scarred4Lyfe

Odors are particulate. This means when you smell shit, what has actually happened is minute particles of shit floating in the air have been sucked into your nostrils. Better go wipe your nose. lol By the way, this is a #TrueStory. Have a nice day. ☺ Cloudy skies in the central USA this morning. Weather is getting ready to get a bit ugly, highs (heat index) in the afternoons reaching between 40.5° - 43° C for the next 4 days.

@Scarred4Lyfe

I normally destroy spiders I see in the house, but since this guy was doing what spiders are supposed to do, I granted a temporary stay of execution. But he/she/IT needs to stay in that window - if I see it anywhere else in the house, I will not be held responsible for the consequences.

@Scarred4Lyfe

"Exactly how much did I drink last night? I don't remember a thing." One of the neighborhood albino squirrels definitely needs a bath or a shower or something this morning. Every once in a while they show up looking like they've been rolling around in a mud puddle. I've had one show up so dirty it almost looked yellow from all the dust in its fur. 7:30 A.M. @Scarred4Lyfe

So---I was nonchalantly walking from the kitchen to the living room and there was a deer right at the front door investigating Scar, whom REALLY wanted to come inside. lol I saw deer, deer saw me, deer ran across the road, Scar came in, I got the camera and *click*. ☺

@Scarred4Lyfe

Petey (and Scar) seemed REALLY interested in a small tree at the end of the yard, so I walked down to see what was happening---and then rushed back into the house to get the camera hoping I wouldn't lose the opportunity. And sure enough, when I came back, Scar had wandered off, but Petey was still trying to figure out how to get the mouse...

@Scarred4Lyfe

I see @Crisjhon blocked me after I called them out for stealing all their photos from the Internet. lol My cat Petey having a stare-down competition with one of the local squirrel herd.

@Scarred4Lyfe

Female red-bellied woodpecker getting breakfast from a seed block hanging out by my bird feeders. These things are very loud when they start calling to each other, I've had a mated pair nesting here at the house for a few years now.

@Scarred4Lyfe

A few shots of a Venusta Orchard spider (Leucauge venusta) that was living in my truck for three days a few years ago back in 2020. Over a three-day period (June 16, 17, & 18) I took close to 140 shots trying to capture the 'perfect' image. Never did quite get it, but I got close a few times. Taken with a Canon SX410 IS

@Scarred4Lyfe

This thing sounds as pretty as it looks. This is my 1975 Marantz Model 2015 Stereophonic receiver. These don't pack a lot of raw power, only pushing 15 watts/channel into 8 ohms when wide open at rated input, but it is entirely more than any suburban apartment dweller would need---this thing could get the neighbors rather mad at you.

@Scarred4Lyfe

4-day heatwave broke this morning with rain and much cooler temperatures, currently rainy and 71 °F/21 °C. Scar thought he wanted to be out this morning at first, and I told him he might wanna come in because all hell was getting ready to break loose, but he didn't believe me until BOOM!!! came roaring from the sky and he allowed as how maybe I was right and he'd just come back up on the porch for a while.

@Scarred4Lyfe

Since the rain finally stopped for a few and left everything looking clean and fresh, I went out and snapped a photo of one of my lily blooms. The yellow really stands out against the dark wet greenery.

Day after day Nothing changes Except for the clothes that I wear... ------------------------------------------- And with a horrible clashing of gears the creative process grinds to a halt. I haven't written anything of more substance than a sentence or two, maybe an odd turn of phrase, for a few years now. I'm still receiving ideas - I just can't seem to make them do anything. Of course, I have never claimed to be a 'writer' (whatever that means). But being 'dry' for this…

@Scarred4Lyfe

If it is on a flower instead of in the grass does that make it a flowerhopper? ☺ Antennae on it are bigger than it is. Very quiet Sunday afternoon, plenty of sunshine and 30 °C/86 °F

@Scarred4Lyfe

For eight full days and nights, there was no sign of Emoci. I'd called and looked throughout the neighborhood with no luck, and by the sixth morning I had decided she was gone for good and I'd simply never know what happened. Then suddenly yesterday morning she was at the front door wanting to come in. ☺ Still no clue where she was---hadn't lost weight, wasn't dehydrated (we've just had a fairly serious heatwave) and didn't look like she'd been 'roughing it' for 8 days. But…

@Scarred4Lyfe

"Hey Mike, whatcha doin'?" "Not much, just sitting around smoking expired marijuana." ------------------------------------------------------ I assume they have to do this because it is sold as a drug and the FDA (Food & Drug Administration) says all drugs must have an expiration date. The very first time I noticed it, I about laughed my ass completely off.

@Scarred4Lyfe

Emoci (left) and Scar take an afternoon break, they've been Catting™ as hard as they can since early morning, and proper Catting™ is hard work. Wednesday afternoon, almost 2 PM here, sunny and WARM no matter if you use fairlyhighs or celsipedes. I think I may nap for a bit myself. Olney, Illinois USA

I was just sitting around with my meat loafing for about an hour and now my meat is done loafing and I have meatloaf on a sunny Thursday afternoon. Life is good.

@Scarred4Lyfe

Currently 295 °K with a high of 307 ° expected. I figured I may as well start using Kelvin so that way everyone looks at the numbers wondering what the temperature is in 'their' measurements...

@Scarred4Lyfe

Sunrise this morning from my second-oldest sister's second floor apartment balcony. Situated just on the outskirts of town, she gets such a splendid view from there.

@Scarred4Lyfe

Currently 299 °K and sunny on a Monday afternoon. I'm not one of those 'God' people or I would request prayers for the U.S.A. as it appears to be gravely ill. And just when I think it might be on the point of getting a bit better, it takes another turn for the worse. I don't think it can survive much longer. I can't believe I have to share air with a lot of these people...

@Scarred4Lyfe

Why is it when Christians pray/talk to God it is normal but when I talk to MY invisible friend they call me crazy?

@Scarred4Lyfe

11:05 A.M. Central Daylight Time, a sunny Wednesday morning in Olney Illinois USA I shot this while sitting out on a bench in the front yard with one of my cats (Emoci), just enjoying the quiet and a cup of coughee. Being I live at the end of a dead-end road, it is fairly peaceful even though I am actually in town---no through traffic goes past here. And this is one of those 'once seen it can't be unseen' photos---ol' boy must be a bit excited about something---just pokin'…

My girl Emoci enjoying an afternoon laying in the shade in the side yard out near the Squirrel Tree where she usually sits and watches the local wildlife to make sure everyone is behaving themselves. But a girl's gotta nap when a girl's gotta nap, and she feels like napping right now. #cats

@Scarred4Lyfe

Mama Raccoon and two young'uns out at the Squirrel Tree feeding early this morning (4:30 A.M.) The kids weren't too sure about me at first and kept hiding behind the tree, but I spent about 10 minutes outside shooting and they finally 'loosened up' a bit.

@Scarred4Lyfe

Doesn't look anything like I had hoped it would, but interesting nonetheless. Mourning Dove sitting on a power line out front this morning, shot from beneath a tree and through a hole in the leaves.

@Scarred4Lyfe

Eight years I have been living back n the house I grew up in, and the other day saw a bird I had not seen since I was a kid feeding on the seedblock out front, but it got scared off before I could get a photo. Low and behold, today I was out capturing some shots in the yard and BAM! Mr Red-Headed Woodpecker comes back for another visit. And now I can add it to my other yardbird photos. Follow the link if you would like to take a peek at the feathered finery in my…
