Organizer Updates - Success & Challenges/Covid

Bangalore: Upcoming virtual meetup on March 19th. COVID rules have been minimized in most parts of the country. India changed cryptocurrency rules beginning on April 1st - 1% tax on every trade within the centralized exchanges and 30% tax on income.

Mexico: Attended Anarcapulco. Lots of crypto fans were present. Monitoring potential regulation in Latin America.

Margarita Island, Venezuela: Venezuela approved new tax regulation and will take effect on March 27th. The government will tax with 2% - 8% every crypto transaction. Government crypto is exempt. This may impact payments and merchants in the short term due to the additional tax fee. Currently working on onboarding a new local merchant. It’s a huge business that sells food so stay tuned. Coordinating with BCH Argentina to schedule the next SmartBCH Virtual Meetup targeting developers in Latin America. 

Nigeria: Focused on crypto education. Hosted a meetup on March 3rd. Created a new monthly meetup series to target newbies to crypto. The hangout series is hosted in-person and the regular meetups for regular members are hosted virtually or in-person. Continue to work on a new project called Paysats, a new platform which will be deployed in Africa and allow people to pay electricity bills, top up phone credits using BCH and crypto. Aiming to launch the platform at the end of March. Follow the BCH Nigeria meetup activity on Twitter.

Philadelphia: Hosting a virtual meetup this month for North American time zones on Saturday, March 19th at 7:00pm EST.

Phuket, Thailand: Hosting general crypto meetups every two weeks. The meetup venue accepts BCH and other crypto. The last meetup was hosted on March 9th.  Follow their activity on twitter and Instagram.

BCH Merchant Adoption Campaign

The campaign continues and there is no specific end date. We encourage you to onboard more businesses to BCH. Please share the opportunity with your members to earn up to $30 in BCH and increase adoption in your region. Read the details. Join the telegram group if you have questions.

CashBack Campaign: Earn 20% cashback on BCH purchases

Spend BCH at a local in-person or online merchant, tweet about it and get 20% cash back as a reward. The goals are to patronize BCH merchants, reward BCH users and spread awareness that BCH is useful as money. Promotion rules are posted on the Satoshi’s Angels website. Join the telegram channel if you have questions.

Over 101,516 BCH has been locked on SmartBCH and 293 BCH has been burned. Monitor the latest statistics here.

Regional Virtual Meetups

BCH organizers host three virtual meetups every month to accommodate people different time zones and languages.  The meetups are open to everyone. Please share the virtual meetup that works best for your time zone in your meetup.com group.

1. USA: Saturday, March 19th at 7:00pm EST
2. India/Asia: Hosted on the 4th Saturday of every month, Next date is Saturday March 19th at 4:30pm IST / 8:00pm JST
