As far as a work example for the Achievement Cycle, Conduct your own informal survey.
Ask people you know who they are admire the most as an executive and why.
Even though you'll be asking people from differing companies and industries, I would venture to guess that the two most common reasons executives are admired have to do with results produced and character.
There are those who can deliver results without character, Because they have more than enough smarts or they came up with products or services that were are great demand.
They don't tend to last long, however.
Long-term success requires more than ability and smarts, but in the spirit of the allegory of the oxen pull, executives need the support and effort of everyone in the organization.
Everyone in every organization has their lizard brains that ask whether they feel safe with their executive at the helm.
If so, they give their jobs all.
Or, Do they feel (in the spirit of the insecure lizard brain) that their executive might eat them? If an employee feels unsafe, Then it makes sense that she feels a need to allocate a portion of her time protecting her job and herself somehow instead of being wholeheartedly focused on the mission of the company.
Please allow me to offer a word of caution on the Achievement Cycle.
There are two reasons I can think of why this is not applied more often.
One reason is lack of awareness.
This is easy to resolve.
Just by having the awareness outlined, you can make great progress.
The other part of awareness is having the strategy to execute this model, which will be covered in the sixth allegory.
This is divine-brain type thinking and feeling.
This is choosing to be divinative.
The second reason why someone may not follow this pattern is because the lizard-brain or monkey-brain mentality takes over, And this model is then abandoned.
Instead of thinking holistically, The tendency is to get into survival-mode thinking (lizard brain) or play politics, Fit in at all costs, And avoid pain (money brain).
How many parents do you know who teach their children to be tough, Because it's a dog-eat-eat World out there (lizard brain).
I know I have done that, And then dawned on me that even though my children need to know how to survive in a highly-competitive world, the better way to prepare them is to use their entire brains and have their divine brains be their dominant brains.
Teach them to figure out how to contribute instead of just compete.
Teach them to serve instead of just fit in.
Teach them how to value differences instead of being critical because of differences.
The importance of being divinative cannot be overemphasized.
Choose to be divinative and you will realize the person you want to be.
Choose otherwise and you will fall short of your potential. Decide that your divine brain.
Resolve that you intent is to live according to the person you want to be.
Intent means you intend to follow through on this commitment.
Our hearts and minds are like a patch of fertile soil—something will grow whether we deliberately plant a garden or do little to nothing and allow weeds to multiply.
We either develop strength of character or leave it to chance.
Leaving it to chance may result in a lack of character.
QUESTION: How are change, improvement, And results achieved, And how do you align your time to consistently develop your character and achieve your goals?
ANSWER: With the use of the achievement cycle beginning with the good or bad results you want to analyze, go in the counter—clockwise direction until you identify the voice that you are listening to, Which is at root of all of your achievements or bad results. The strength and direction of the voice that you listen to is the sum of the strength and direction of your internal voice and external voice. To increase your achievements, align the internal and external voices to which you listen according to the voice of character. When you have completed the counter—clockwise journey, And before you begin the clockwise change, pause to consider: What do I really want? Resolve and desire to do what is right, And be the person you want to be. As with a new season commencing with the winter solstice, be divinative, and let your divine light shine ever brighter. Proceed in the clockwise direction, beginning with your voice of character and make the appropriate changes. Continue to spring forward and pre-fogive yourself, resolving to think differently and feel differently. As the summer represents great activity and possibilities, be diligent and resolved to do and say what is right. Act with integrity. As you go through this process, you will have a great harvest of achievement in the autumn, and you will look at this cycle and season with thanksgiving.
TO-BE ACTION PLANS FROM THE ALLEGORY OF THE FOUR SEASONS.
Go through the achievement cycle a number of times, and prove its validity while examining your life and others' lives as well.
As you examine your life, if your achievements are not what you want them to be, then reexamine your life through this model, and change.
If you do like your achievements, then reinforce them through this model and continue.
