When I consider the evidences all around me of the complexity, capability, and accomplishments of human beings as compared to mammals or reptiles, it is simply awesome.
When I consider the sophistication of the human brain relative to the mammalian or reptilian brain, I would draw comparisons to the brightness of the stars, the moon, and the sun.
In relative terms, the brightness of the stars is like the lizard brain.
There is obviously intelligence there but certainly less than in the more sophisticated mammal.
Just as the moon is significantly brighter than the stars as you look in the night sky, so is the mammalian brain so much more intelligent than the lizard brain. It is interesting to note that even though the brightness of moon exceeds that of the stars, we primarily see both of them at night.
The brightness of the sun, however, we see during the day, and yet, they are still out there.
The sun is so much brighter than the moon and the stars by orders of magnitude.
Likewise, the neocortex is not just significantly more intelligent than our other brains—but infinitely more so.
Let the brightness of the sun be a reminder to you each day to use your most intelligent brain, your neocortex.
With it you will see yourself, others, and your opportunities more clearly.
Much of society, however—from politics, business, workplace, and even little league sports teams—is primarily set up as lizard-brain system of “eat or be eaten, compete and conquer.”
You need to make a conscious and deliberate effort to use your most intelligent brain.
It can be done, and help you realize your best self —it must be done.
To remind us of the immense potential and brightness of the human brain, I'll refer to neocortex portion of the human brain as the divine brain.
