When you ask the average woman what she is doing to try and lose weight, the typical response is something along the lines of, "Eating less and exercising". Although it's true that cardio and aerobic exercises can help with weight loss, lifting weights actually burns more calories because the calories burned will occur all throughout the day. There are many myths about weight lifting that cause most women to avoid the activity.
Lifting Weights Make Women Bulky
False. Lifting weights do not make women bulky, in fact muscle tone and mass actually make women look more feminine and curvy. Muscle actually weights more then fat.
Lifting Weights will make me GAIN more weight
True! After weight lifting for a length of time, women will find that they are getting slimmer but actually gaining more weight. Why? Again, because muscle weights more then fat. Observe the pictures below of women who gained weight after a weight lifting plan:
Once you start lifting weights, don't be discouraged by the scale! If you are a woman trying to lose weight I highly encourage you to give weight lifting a try. There are many programs online designed for women to help get you started and you may be pleasantly surprised at how aesthetically pleasing a more shapely figure will make you feel.
