Titrate my heart with love
October 11, Tuesday, 2022
I woke up in the morning and went to the university without breakfast because I have to participate in the chemistry lab class. Sir lab has scheduled the class and our class will run for 8 hours from 9 am to 5 pm. Although there is a half hour lunch break in between these 8 hour lab classes. But we have never done such a long lab class before.
However, after arriving within the specified time, I left for the campus. It takes about 25 minutes to reach the campus from my hostel. After entering the campus, I realized that Sir has called us for class so early in the morning due to which the whole campus is empty.
After entering the chemistry lab within a certain time, I realized that there is quite a bit of delay in starting the lab activities. Because there were many things left to be prepared in the laboratory after a long time, also because the laboratory was closed, various types of harmful gaseous substances accumulated, due to which the window door was opened and waited for some time for the harmful gases to escape. Then sir allowed us to enter the class room and explained everyone's work according to the manual. We started working according to his instructions.
But what we never expected was that we were always meant to do only one experiment a day. But today, sir, we did not understand that he planned to conduct four experiments in one day. Sir divided us into four groups, two people in each group. Experiments begin with two groups, ie four experiments divided into eight groups.
The experiment given on our page was the most difficult and time-consuming of the four experiments. We have to start the experiment with an acidic chemical called phenol, so we are warned about the use of acid in the beginning. Basically phenol is soluble in water but soluble in water. But in this case, we have to prove that different concentrations have the same ratio through the curve. It took us approximately 2 hours to complete the experiment. Then we proceed to the next experiment.
The solution shown here is potassium dichromate mixed with water in varying proportions. Maybe you are wondering what is the reason for mixing it with water? Potassium dichromate in different proportions shows different absorption in UV spectrometer. In order to determine this variation in absorption we took readings by mixing potassium dichromate with water and sulfuric acid in different proportions.
The last experiment was tritation. But apart from titration, the experiment involved shaking and extraction. The very last step was the titration of acids and bases. Phenophthalein is always used in the titration of weak acids and bases, so I did a small experiment for the purpose of making a fun video. The video that I uploaded to YouTube Short Videos got about 5000 views and 18 subscribers within an hour. That made me interested in creating YouTube content along with blogging. Haha
Here is the video,
