Titanic,am sure it sounds familiar to you.The largest man made moving object at that time and the most luxurious cruise ship was thought to be indestructible. But the icy cold waters and iceberg of the Atlantic showed it no mercy on this ship of luxury.

The titanic measured about 882 feet and weighed 52,310 pounds. This parameters alone should tell us how big this ship was.As such,it required alot of manpower of about 3,000 workers and cost about 7.5 million dollars and was completed in 1912.I bet none of us were even born by then.In fact it was dubbed the unsinkable ship.Being a passenger on the titanic depended on your financial status.Rich people purchased first class tickets, second class tickets for average people and third class tickets for poor people, hence the rich had more special facilities and treatment on the ship.

On April 10,1912 the titanic set off from Southampton England, where they stopped at cherbourg,France ,to Queensland Ireland then finally heading new York. The total number of people were estimated to be 2,224 people of which about 885 were crew members. These crew members included musicians whose primary role was to entertain first class passengers. They had quite a tough job as they had to learn over 350 hymns and have it at their fingertips. This was to enable them meet the requests of any first class passenger.

After the ship had visited all the stop points,it was ready to head towards new York. One surprising thing was that the ship had no binoculars. The watch men had to use their eyes for determining distant objects. It was a misty night too so vision was really poor. The ship was approaching a huge iceberg which was not identified earlier by the men. They had come too close by the time they saw it and tried to move away from the iceberg. As a result, the side scratched the iceberg causing water to enter the ship.

This continued till the water was enough to sink the ship the ship.At around 1:30am,the titanic had gone down .This was partly the fault of captain Smith and his crew. They failed to respond to iceberg signals from other ships and were also overspending. The ship also had few lifeboats which could accommodate about 1,200 people while there were over 2,000 people on board.

This incident managed to take 1517 lifes .only about 706 people survived the ordeal to tell the sad tale to the whole world. Alot of prominent people at the time were on the titanic. One is John Jacob Astor. The richest man in the word then and many others. This incident of the titanic taught a huge lesson to shipping companies to stock ships with enough lifeboats and follow other safety protocols in case of another accident like that of the titanic.

Till date, this remains one of the worst disasters to ever occur in the world.Lives and properties were lost, but a lesson has been learnt to ensure our safety today when travelling by ship.

Yeah.No one ever thought this ship would ever sink.It was indeed doomed. How can a ship sink on its first voyage.I heard the builder of the ship even dared God that he could not sink the ship. And God just dealt with them.We should never try to dare God because he will surely win.

Hello good morning, honestly in my 28th year of existence I never tried to watch Titanic movies, but I am familiar with this due to its popularity.

I never watched it either. It's not my kind of drama but what happened for real is worth investigating.

Actually, we do not know if the Titanic sank. To me, it's more likely two ships were switched by the company /owner because that one was already broke. This way they received money from the insurance. The only thing they needed to do is switching the names. Many who worked on the ship suddenly didn't show up or refused...
